4k vs 2k Skins and Templates

Can you convert a 4k template to 2k with Photoshop CS6? How?

Is that  maybe possible with Gimp too?

Why would you want to?

The game will automatically resize skins to 2K on the fly (pardon the pun) if you uncheck the "use 4K textures" option.  Are you having problems opening 4K templates due to due to a low spec PC?

No, i had a request from a forummer who only works with 2k & skin making, asking for a 2k template for a La5N.

i reset canvassize 4096x4096 do 2048x2948 in P-shop, and trimmed the lot. Sent him the new PSD template, but haven't heard back yet.

You just need to make the template smaller if you are ready with your paintjob.
Just scale it fom 100% to 50%. Just mark every layer or merge every layer and than scale it down.
Maybe then you should duplicate the merged layer into a new File, for having the correct outlines.
If you dont do that you will have a problem with exporting the template.

Hopefully you understand this.
Sorry for my bad english.

Cheers,
Simon

In my opinion it would only make scence if you need more than 200 skins in your folders. Like ACG campaign. ?

Resize worked ... only importing the 2k PSD into Paint Shop did not seem to work ...

Yes, I always resize 4K templates to 2K in Gimp, as I use not so powerful notebook to develop my skins.

And now the other way around without too much losses  ... an official 2k Bf110 template to 4k resolution. I guess the 4k has a 4 times pixel count.

You can do it in Photoshop by changing canvas size, buy the oblique lines and circles seem more jagged than with an original 4k template.

Is there a way to smooth the converted lies automatically? Maybe in GIMP?

I am very close to releasing the official 4K Bf110E and a Bf110G template wont be far behind.

Top Notch, Thanks

PS are there any plugins for upscaling with gimp or the older pre CC 2018 Photoshop versions (i have CS6)?
