CHOICE OF NATIONALITY AT AIRPORT

Hi, I mostly play in multiplayer flying Italian. When selecting the airplane before spawning it is not always possible (actually almost always impossible, that is) to change the nationality from German to Italian even though one selects an Italian aircraft. Is there something I do wrong or is it a server setting or should I open a bugreport? Aside of having to serve in some Jagdgeschwader instead of a Stormo,  The most annoying part is that I can't stand anymore being called "Caruso" by the German flight control, then one wonders we switched sides!

In the main menu, Select 'Options' then 'Plane'. On the right side of the screen on 'Army' select Blue then 'Country" Italy.

You should be able to work out the rest from the drop - down boxes. :salute:

I saved a Quick Mission after using the "Plane" option as described and still had German markings superimposed over Italian. Unchecking the "Markings" box solved that. That doesn't change radio comms voices though.

Thank you Furphy but as Dagwoodyt says, when I choose side, then select airport, go to plane and go through to select the airplane, the grid on the right side where you find country, squadron etc. doesn't allow for country change from Germany to Italy so I cannot choose a Stormo but only a Geschwader. the only thing left is choosing an italian camo unchecking the "markings" box in order to quit the German markings on the fuselage, but this a not optimal workaround. I don't understand why sometimes the "Country" box is free for choice and most of the times it is not.

Mmm, yes now I understand what you and Dagwoodyt are describing as I tried this on both the Channel and Tobruk map.

I don't think it's a bug, it's just the way that it was set up.  It would be nice if this could be fixed.

Could a TF person or Sokol1 answer this please.

Not a TF dev nor am I Sokol1 but the airfield spawn point can choose to limit the country of the spawn point if they want to.

Good design is to have seperate spawn in points for Italian and German planes, and lock each of those spawns to that country. If you have Italian and German planes at the same base, then it's best to leave the country of the spawn point open.

So it is most likely just a mission design error. Not a bug, it's an intended feature. But in general mission builders should follow the above principle.

Just to clarify: I am just modifying "stock" Quick Missions. For instance I modified a QM as in my post above and was able to fly with Italian markings. I later discovered however that my AI wingie still showed German markings. After that I modified the AQ variant of the c.202 in the Options/Plane menu to show Italian markings. I then selected the previously saved mission from the QM menu, substituted the C.202 AQ as my aircraft and resaved the mission under a new name. To my surprise when I loaded the C.202 AQ mission my aircraft had German markings. If I then unchecked the "Markings" box I lost all nationality markings.

So it seems that it might be necessary to modify Quick Missions via the FMB to get the desired aircraft markings for each aircraft if I am understanding the requirements clearly.

What Flare said is correct. This isn't the hardest thing to do, however when you have custom spawn points in online missions having to add another spawn area on the same field would add a lot of time and testing to the online mission builders, which is a small amount of people.

Again, with reference to QM's, the procedure that works is to copy the mission from "Mission" folder into "Missions" folder and then open it in the FMB. After modding the country of origin in the FMB the mission is then copied from the "Missions" folder back into the "Mission" folder. Checking the "Markings" box, if necessary, displays the desired country decals.
