Q: red or blue entity dots on the pilot map ... fixed

I know, i know, a stupid Q:

Making a mission, but playing it in the game there are no red or blue dots on the Pilot Map for active entities like planes, trains, AAA units, tanks, or just one type; f.i. blue, no red.

What am i doing wrong? Where do you set that?

Short answer...

For anything showing up on the map you need a 'spotter'

So either you are in spotting range with your plane yourself, or any other unit (vehicle, ... WITH entity AND spotting) is able to see the other unit.

I've placed some 'spotter vehicles (my own nation)' inside my mission to see my trains on the map for debugging.

They show me all units inside their spotting range they can see (but that can be much lower than the spotting range set)

And I've never got map markers showing for bue/red only and having ignored all other nations

S!

Thank goodness they made the spotter option a setting that a mission maker can control.

Now if they could just get rid of the airfield spotter range so that you do not know if an enemy plane is close to a friendly base. If that was a selectable option it would be great. Much less arcade.
