The ground attack choices and effects at this point of development are pretty good, but it would even better if from time to time we get to hit an ammunition train or truck convoy . I remember in Cliffs of Dover, I was attacking RAF Manston, in a Bf 109 and managed to hit a fuel truck parked in the middle of the field, with spectacular results, it exploded in a huge fire ball. I'm sure most of us would have watched for hours some of the remarkable gun camera footage that was shot during the war, especially Europe in the later mouths of the conflict. One particular straffing attack which never fails to make me jump is, an attack on what looks like railway marshaling yards and not sure if the attacking planes are P 47's or P 38's ?. But one burst of gun fire hits and explodes what must be a ammunition train ? which results in a massive explosion. Cybermat47 Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 That's a good point. Some fuel trucks would go well with my 20mm cannons Fuel trucks: they're like those awesome fuel tanks you find in every first person shooter, but somehow even cooler :D

Much more important IMHO is the ability of bomb blasts or rocket explosions to tumble lighter vehicles around and the posibility of "mobility kills" where the vehicle simply stops in it's tracks or runs off the road. 1

Felix58 Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Speaking of mud-movers, I hope that Mission Builders will be able to identify certain objects as targets (fuel tanks, buildings, troop concentrations, bridges, etc - add to list) so that level and dive bombing missions can get some sort of feedback/damage report. This is a fairly basic feature so I'm guessing it will be. Also would be of interest to the defenders of the target. Could be interesting to have some of the historical buildings identified as targets - tractor factory, Pavlov's House, etc. 3
JG4_Sputnik Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Yup I agree. There is a lot they could do to enhance the feeling of a real ground attack. So far the effects are nice, but there's a lot of space to improove. Infantery running from the trucks (already canceled), cars/trucks accelerating and zic-zacing to avoid MG fire, trains flying through the air (like in CloD), craters and gereally mud from burned snow. Would really be cool, especially in that particular Stalingrad scenario, where Ground attacks fit right in.

I agree that it would be nice to see them tumble about after a bomb hit.

However, I'd sure like this to be on a slider or have the option to turn off too many troops running around. Speaking as someone who has a mid-low end rig, this might kill the whole thing for me! As it is, I am able to run the game relatively smoothly on high, and like butter on balanced. Add too many little things happening on the ground and that would probably push me down to low. (Once I get my new rig, SCREW IT!!)
6high Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Lasting impact craters and therefore also the ability to disable runways...that would give me some much needed satisfaction over those damn fighters vulching me every time i take off
