DelanClip PS3 Modified camera - can it be used as a normal webcam?

Can this be used as a normal webcam? I don't have any webcams and now I need one so I thought I would by a DelanClip gamer package to kill two birds with one stone.

I think maybe removing the IR filter will mean that your webcam will show a lot of IR inputs. So it may not really function all that well as a conventional webcam because of all the IR interference.

What do you think the actual effects are? I am not planning to start doing YT performances for a living, I only need it for wokplace video calls while working from home.

I'm not really sure. I imagine any light sources, backlighting,reflections, etc would cause a lot of interference on the IR spectrum and maybe cause image problems. But I'm not really an expert. I have to think the IR filter is there for a reason. 

 

I would think that if you are using it for workplace calls you would be better off just getting a cheap webcam and plugging it in when not using your headtracking. I have heard that DelanClip is a bit swamped with orders and things are moving relatively slowly so if you need it ASAP for work you may need to pick up something quicker.

Yeah that's the reasonable move so I'll probably do that. It's just that if I pick up a cheap webcam I lose the incentive to get the Delanclip. I dont really need it just thought that I need a webcam anyway why not order something I might play around with in Il-2 or other games.

For what its worth, I've been considering picking up a DelanClip just as a backup to my EdTracker should it ever bite the dust. I don't need it now but should I ever actually need it it would suck for it to not be available anymore, or have to wait weeks or months for it to ship.
