Looks very nice!

If you modify the instruments does it effect other aircraft?

Yes, Il-2 (all), Yak-1, Pe-2 ser.87 and La-5 will be affected because they use shared texture.

Very very good, I have tested it with VR and it is appreciated to be able to read the indicators, and the details! Hopefully in the future all the cockpits will be 4k, without having to use MODS: D

Very detailed remake;)
It must have taken a lot of time and effort.

Do you have the next plan?

I have tested this mod that was put/copied over Oyster_KAI's enhanced cockpits.

Works out great, amazing !

Amazing !!!

Pardon my being a bear of very little brain, but when I unzip the file I get a "data" file and two more files inside that, which file goes into the mod folder in the game?

Thanks.

(FWIW what I did ...)

If you unzip the archive then the Directory structure should be maintained.

The exact same structure is present in the IL-2 GB installation.

the files in the 'planes/your-plane' and 'textures/common' directories must be copied and may be replaced if already present.

A backup prior to this operation may be adviseable (in the very unlikely case you don't like the replacements).

However, if you have already use it you could also have the JSGME utility make these changes !

DO NOT FORGET : MODS ON

These IL-2 GB 4K cockpits are awesome !

Good Luck

If you need to do it that way what the button "enable mods" serve in the game?

To use mods you must first agree that you want to use mods but also the server settings must also allow Mods to be used by the players.  That is for Online servers really so players do not make transparent skins etc.

transparent skins

But, might those not simply be ... the "SWOTL" (Secret Weapons Of The Luftwaffe) !? ?

Better still ... maybe even ... Foo Fighters that were supposedly seen in the course of WWII ... by both the Allies as well as the Axxis ... !

Beautiful work! I've been using Oyster's 4k upscaling mod until now. How do the two compare?

Posted

These mods uses different techniques.

Hand repaint is very time consuming, but provide  better result.

Besides, additional time is needed to search for info, to make some parts more historical accuracy.

For example here is comparison image of water temperature indicator (original, modded and real instrument).

Ah, I see. Amazing work! Then I'll use Oyster's mod for all the cockpits, and then use your beautiful repaints for the lagg-3  and la-5. Keep up the great work!

Great work, thank you.

Have enabled through JSGME but nothing has changed.

I must have missed understood something but have no idea what.

Great mod, I really like the new textures, thanks @Eee3 for sharing!

Thank you Eee3.

I have put folder [data[ in JSGME and enabled ok, but nothing changes.

Mods are enabled in game as I use PWCG and great mods by some others too.

Your work looks so realistic it would be a shame not to have it.

I will try putting extracted archive into game folder, when I have worked out exactly how to do that!

For JSGME you need to create a folder for the mod (with the mod name you like) under your JSGME MODS folder. 'data' must go inside that new folder, so the final folder structure looks like this:

[game folder] > MODS > [theModNameYouLike] > data > ...

If you directly put 'data' in the MODS folder you will have a mod called 'data' in JSGME, and it will not work.

You did it!

Thank you very much for taking time to help.

The work is terrific.

Sorry, one question, will the new download [with LA-5] over ride the original or must I delete and put in new named folder?

Thank you.

OK, got it now, just replaced, Great.

I did test them, compare to other models and I know its all a matter of personal taste, but I think this is the best cockpit mod I ever saw in VR. I do hope you keep on going for other planes. Pity if you just did stay to only two plane models.

Do you plan to go further with La-5fn and others?

Posted (edited)

The La-5fn would be awesome :) to be honest, if I fly La, I always fly 5fn

PS: the cockpit looks amazing in VR! Such a step up. I spent half an hour doing touch and go's, just to admire your work without distractions of enemy aircraft.

is it the Ju-52? ? That old lady is in desperate need of better cockpit textures. 8k even, just going by how much surface area there is t cover and how crappy it looks now compared to these 4k texture mods!

I don't want to trash your work but what's the point of we already have 4k cockpits?

Posted

Yes, now all cockpits have 4096x4096 textures, and many elements are looking better especially text plates and instruments. But many other parts is just upscaled old 2k textures with some sort of sharpen filter added. In my MODs all textures have native 4k resolution with many small details added. This is especially noticeable on a 4k monitor. Secondly, many instruments have been reworked to better match their real prototypes.

Here the example screenshot:
