Cybermat47 Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 (edited) Good job, random douches on the street. Sure you let the 'homeless guy' on the street to slowly 'die', but at least you saved the 'rich guy' Edited May 15, 2014 by [AJSA]_Cybermat47 1
Finkeren Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 (edited) It's funny how these journalistic 'experiments' often produce wildly different results, depending on whether the journalist wants to tell a cautionary tale or a feel-good story. Yes, that video is quite depressing, but I'd like to see the results from control group B. Edited May 15, 2014 by Finkeren
sturmkraehe Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Disgusting. Saw similar things in same city as in video (only me and another girl - foreign too - checking out a guy who turned out to sleep after a heavy drink) and on another occasion in Cairns, Australia. An unconscous guy laying there. We stopped and checked him out (turned out to have drunk too heavily too so fortunately no one died or was in imminent danger to die. But too many passed by.
LLv44_Mprhead Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 The other one looks like someone you would expect to be sleeping on the street drunk, the other doesn't. So you go and check what is wrong with the one that doesn't "fit in the picture" so to say. Also the one appearing to be homeless can be at some level intimidating for many people, so they are more reluctant to go check if he is ok. Not saying it's right, but that's the way it tends to go.
=LD=Hethwill Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Like in "Hard to be a God" - We sit in front of our screens, eating and watching violence, hunger and predation on the weak ( be it in movies or docus ) while our comfort and welfare blocks the reality check. Mankind has a shocking way of judging once the primary needs of survival are met - Our comfort is our liberty. The primary concept we carry about "helplessness" is distorted.
LLv34_Flanker Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 (edited) S! In today's society your looks and status means more than one's well being. Edited May 15, 2014 by LLv34_Flanker
johncage Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 there's a video in china of a toddler being run over and for the duration of the video(pretty long time i remember), the crowded pedestrians didn't respond in any way. i think it helps to put things into perspective.
