SvAF/F16_lassekongo Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 Before i start i have googled and searched on the forum but didnt find any solving answer. So my rig consists of a i7 8700k, Gtx 1080 ti, 16gb ram, 144hz 2560x1440 monitor. I have no fps issues (at least so far haha) and i have high on the preset. and a mix of high and ultra on most other settings. The AA is as stated in the title set to msaa x4. But i am using the highest AA settings without touching nvidia control panel becuse i have read several answers that it can only change fxaa and that diesnt do anything. So why does the plane still have extremelly jagged edges evrywhere. I cant really understand this becuse it dosnt matter if the plane is in the title screen or in game on ground or in the air using external view and in cockpit i get very jagged edges everywhere. I mean it doesnt seem normal that the AA doesnt do anything. Is there any solution for this ? I will try to upload pictures tonight or tomorow so you can see and compare the jagged edges.
21.Gr.CT.Ludovisi Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 Nowadays MSAA seems not working anymore, cockpit edges are like ladders. FSAA is far better than MSAA in my opinion. I hope MSAA will be fixed.
SvAF/F16_lassekongo Posted September 14, 2020 Author Posted September 14, 2020 Ok but fxaa still produces more jagged edges on the plane for me unfortunately . The weird thing is that i have msaa set to 4 ingame but when i cxheck the startup.cfg file multisampling is set to only 2.

Here is a little help: In the game's graphic interface you can select either MSAA or FXAA. In the startup.cfg these values are 1 for MSAA, 0 for FXAA Antialiasing: if set to 2 in the game's graphic interface you will read multisampling = 1 in your startup.cfg file, if set to 4, then you will read multisampling = 2 in your startup.cfg file. Finally, if you do not set any antialiasing value in the game's graphic interface, then multisampling = 0 will be set as a value in your startup.cfg file. So, to sum it up: [KEY = graphics] 3dhud = 0 adapter = 0 ...... ...... msaa = 0 (0 for fxaa, 1 for msaa) multisampling = 0 (0 for no antialisaing, 1 for 2x and 2 for 4x antialiasing) ...... ...... win_height = 1080 win_width = 1920 [END] Cheerio
SvAF/F16_lassekongo Posted September 17, 2020 Author Posted September 17, 2020 Thanks after your post atleast this got my worry down. But i have another question i hope ypu or any other could help me with. I chaged nvidia control panel for il2 to 8x and when i checked in game graphics menu the value chaged from 0 to 4 to 0 to 8 so this means i now have 8x msaa right ? And is it better to sett antialising in nvidia control panel instead becuse so far i have not experienced any fps issues with the 8x setting.

The latest patch introduced 8xMSAA which you can enable from the in-game menu. Have you tried doing that? It looks much better for me.
