Transparent Water planed?

I would like to ask the Dev's and discuss the possibility of transparent Water.

As i have crashed near a lake or a river, the plane just vanished in the endless deep of the russian countryside. You can drive with a tank to the shore of a river, than you simply vanish in the deep.
So I thoug about the possibility to implement transparent water to il2.
Would make Sub hunting interesting, sinking ships next to the coast line and when you crash land on water, you can see the plane sinking down.
Each water should have different a translucent level, so the river Rhine is different than a clear pacific ocean.

When we will move to the Pacific or the Mediteranian, it would be a great grafical touch to il2 finaly.

What do you think about my 2 points?
1. create realistic depth for shore lines, lakes and rivers
2. add transparent Water effect to the game for further titles (with the reworked shorelines)

It's a lot of work for a performance expensive feature that can only be notices in a tiny fraction of gameplay.

I'm not sure it's worth it.

Visualy it is worth it, you have it in DCS, in Warthunder, Arma 3 and it is a current graphical standart. Im just asking out of curiosity cause it would be cool to have it.

I would enhance the gameplay for maritime patrol flights, more realistic crashing near lakes, rivers and beaches, good for Island maps in futher titles.

It is very well possible CloD Tobruk will get it soon (?) because I read that TFS is planning to implement a new cloud system using a tool that also allows for transparent water and waves, better shorelines etc. Maybe one of the TFS Devs can comment on this. Never read anything on this for GB though.

That's new to me, so you have a link? ?

TFS is supposedly planning to use trueSky technology.

Was a Buzzsaw post, written about on stormbirds.blog by shamrockonfive.

I searched for videos on this technology and found that it also aims to help enabling transparant waters, ocean, under the sea scenery etc. Of course this is no turnkey solution and will at least still require a lot of programming using e. G. an SDK API or something like that!?

Completely different tech from the current water. You’d then need the water to actually be volumetric which it currently isn’t. Add to that subsurface scattering etc and it gets quite expensive.

Not to mention that now you need a texture for every mudflat, lake bottom, rocky point, reef etc etc that you can now see in the shallows.

Most of the time, over most water it looks fairly close, or close enough to what we have now. PTO I’ll want to see those greens though.
