I also didn't know it would have its own Battle of France campaign .It is some fun even though French is not being spoken..I'm not sure but it looks as if some parts of the French countryside has been worked on since the original Clod map ?

"Sacrebleu !"  ? (it's spelled without spaces. But... how funny... always in French there's one space before the exclamation mark).

Fantastic screenshots! Thank you!

It won't be long before I start that campaign...

You're actually surviving to land after missions in that campaign?? I'm on mission 8 (average of 2.5 attempts per mission) and I've landed after a mission exactly twice.

What do you mean ? The campaign is of a too high level of difficulty... or on the contrary you mean that you aren't managing to land without missing your landings?

I think I got my ( mis) spelling from the old “Blackhawk” comic French team member ,”Andre” (?) who shouted out this oath upon occasion...

It is very difficult, at least for me- there's a lot of being outnumbered, and the D.520 had a long and troubled development history, which means, at least the way I'm flying it, it's fairly outclassed. Then again, I'm starting to think maybe I'm being way too aggressive and just need to focus more on survival.

Having said that, I'm absolutely enjoying the campaign- I think it's doing a great job of recreating the desperate last stand of the Armee de l'Air as the German army closed in. I will definitely be attempting it again at some point in the future after I get more good. :)

I figure walk-away-from crash landings are successful missions....?

Interesting! Never heard about that comic. What about those aircraft that are visible on the image you posted? They look fictionnal... are they?

Good!

109s E3 and E4 are a bit faster than the D.520, but have an equivalent rate of climb. Thus, on board our D.520s, I think we should try to outturn them only if we manage to stay over them, higher in altitude.

Otherwise, in May 1940, 109s and D.520s were faster than 500 km/h at level-flight. My reached-ceiling speed on board a 109 E-4 is 500 km/h. On board a D.520 I can reach 460 km/h. And I don't think that the flight model in the sim is wrong. In my case, I think it's because I don't use my joystick correctly (I don't have any rudder pedals, I use the joystick's twist function, which is quite difficult indeed when it comes to bring accuracy to the controls).

The Blackhawks flew a few different aircraft in their heyday of the 40's & 50's-the Grumman Skyrocket during WW@ and later the Lockheed F-90 .

Mad Magazine did a wonderful take off on the Blackhawk series too:

Hey Blitzen, why is this D.520 the only one in your set of screenshots that bears British markings? is this image from the campaign or is it from a solo mission you built?

The British Markings? I flew this as a modified ( British) Quick Mission substituting the D-520 for Hurricanes (I think) over England.I could personalize my own plane but the others defaulted to early war British markings...Maybe they hoped to confuse the Jerries?

To Blitzen: Understood!

To Navynuke99: ok... then what we do need is to practice with the sim... and improve or skills.

Btw Pierre Le Gloan's D.520 (number 6 on top) only had a yellow tail after the French defeat.

The yellow tail and later yellow tail with red stripes were used in North Africa and Syria so the Italians and Germans would recognize them as friendly, this skin would be more fitting to a French vs Brit scenario, I think he shot down a few Hurricanes with that plane over Syria.

I agree with the poster who said that the D.520 campaign is difficult, and I don't consider myself a bad pilot! I keep getting knocked down by Bf 110 gunners and for some reason I find it really hard to aim the guns on it.
