IL2 standalone and VR

With the upcoming availability of the reverb g2 I'm planning to finally jump the fence and get into vr. Since I have no intention to use that fuming pile of shite that is steam, will it be possible for me to do so with the standalone version? Will I need any additional software (I saw opencompositor being mentioned) or is win10/wmr enough?

You need steamVr and as far as I remember steam does not start when you use steamvr. But you may need a steam account to install steamvr, not sure.

 

Opencomposite only works for oculus headsets.

Yes that is correct.

Steam will have to be installed in order to install Steam VR.

After that, you do not need to run Steam, just Steam VR.

Pick your poison. G2 + SteamVR or Oculus + Facebook account + OpenComposite.
