Vyllis Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 Hello, I did read a lot about Pacific and West EU operations in air combat WW2 but my knowledge about the East front is really low. I would like your opinion, in PWCG what air density setting feel the most close to how it was on the East front during WW2? Moscow, Stalingrad & Kuban map.
Kur12 Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 Hartmann fought all the time on the eastern front, flew 1400 sorties, participated in 825 battles. Those on average, a German pilot met the enemy 1 time in 2 sorties. Top 3 Soviet aces (Kozhedub, Pokryshkin, Gulaev), on average, met the enemy 1 time in 3-4 sorties. During major ground operations, battles in the air occurred more often, during lulls - less often. But the average proportion is like this. Everything is very arbitrary, of course.
PatrickAWlson Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 PWCG generally offers more contact per mission than real life. Probably over 90% contact of some sort. PWCG is limited to one mission per day. In the end it is emulating the missions that would have generated contact. Contact in PWCG is also different depending on your career. PWCG will generate much less fighter contact for ground attack missions. More on fighter missions. The idea being it would not be much fun having to drop bombs and defend yourself every time you fly. 1
Vyllis Posted September 7, 2020 Author Posted September 7, 2020 (edited) I see. So keeping low density for air but max ground is enough i guess. EDIT: I noticed something going on. On my main IL-2 career with "stock settings" i have 5-16 3-12 as flight-planes and "low density" checked. Never changed anything there, played like 50+ missions. On my P-40 campaign it is the same. However i created a new campaign to see how number of planes differs and after checking "low density" + "max ground density" then going to "medium density" the planes in the advanced settings show as 3-6 2-8 (low) 5-8 3-12 (med). So i was playing stock settings but in reality somewhere between med and max density without realising it both campaigns ?! Edited September 7, 2020 by Vyllis
PatrickAWlson Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 Might need to do something to make sure that "stock" is using the right advanced config values.
