Gaming laptop issues

Hi there.

I've recently got back into fkught sims after a hiatus and ive just bought a brand new gaming laptop which specs are as follows.

GS66 Stealth 10SFS-073UK, 15.6" 300Hz FHD, Thin Bezel, Intel Core i9-10980HK, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super Max-Q GDDR6 8GB, 1TB NVMe PCIe SSD, 32GB DDR4,

I literally bought this in order to play IL2 and ARMA3. Having set up and downloading steam I can run ARMA maxed out on ultra settings at 1920 x 1080 at over 100fps.

HOWEVER.....IL2 will not run at more that 15 to 20 fps at 1920x1080. Ill fet maybe 21 fps on the menu and maybe 15 to 20 in game. Altering the settings from ultra to high or balanced doesnt seem to make any difference.

Worst of all is that I had a 5 year old msi gt72d dominator that used to run it perfectly and smooth as butter.

I feel like crying haha.

Is there anything, that may he glaringly obvious to you guys, that would cause a dramatic drop in fps on what I understand to be quite a powerful machine?

Any help greatly appreciated as I feel like a fish out of water.

Regards

Make sure IL2 runs with your dedicated GPU and not with the build-in graphic chip of your CPU.

Is this in nvidia options or in il2 options? Sorry, could this be some kind of auto detect issue?

When you start the game right click the shortcut and check what GPU its using, could be using the intel one by default when you want the Nvidia.

OR in Nvidia control panel on the 3d settings you should be able to set it to always use the 2070 card.

(my old laptop would do this sometimes / change the default back to intel all on its own seemingly)

Just tried this guys and its worked. I can play on ultra with everything maxed out and it doesn't drop below 100fps.

Thanks to you both
