Trainers

Not to be overdone, but: could we get one or two Trainers in the Game, to also be flown in some free flight mode? Tiger Moth and a Buecker come to mind...

Just a little something to freely enjoy the flight models that will hopefully feel as good as RoF...

an other argument, very simple...for training. Online, many squadron very realistic would like a plane with two place in which one we can have the controle of the bird for both pilots

On the german side, the Arado Ar-96 would be the best for training! It was the Luftwaffe's standard advanced trainer during the World War II. There was armed version too (one MG-17, 2x50kg bomb).

But the Jungmann has loads more style! ;)

So one basic and one advanced trainer then... thinking about the fact that things like instrument flying began in that era, the scope of such a sim could be gigantic, if done comprehensively.

I'd like to see a U-2/Polikarpov Po-2 biplane modelled as flyable for training-type missions.  The advantage of having a U-2 would be that it could also be used for night harassment missions like those flow by the famous "Night Witches" all-women regiment of the VVS.

I see, you expect all women squadrons into the BoS  B)

If we do get a trainer, I'd like it to be a plane that has seen actual combat and can be used as a fighter or bomber. Think of all the man hours and detail that went into modeling the Tigermoth in Cliffs of Dover, and how many times do you fly it online or in a campaign? I don't even think it had any guns.

A Po-2 is a great idea.

I don't want them. Trainers are useless in the game.

It will be much more usefull to share a cockpit than having a special plane for training.

I would just like a nice in depth tutorial for a change. Something like the DCS series tutorials.

Training must not be boring! A well written campaign from the first flight with instructor on Klemm 35 or Tiger Moth or U2, over missions in advanced trainers to the final test and the pilots license may be good for immersing the game. Btw, i like the Moth in CloD for sightseeing and "Platzrundentraining" on cold winter evenings. :)

Roger that m8!  Maybe the devs could include something along the lines the excellent "Straight From The Farm" training campaign made by a player for use in IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946?  Straight From The Farm used the Douglas SBD Dauntless dive bomber, a relatively tame and easy aircraft to fly, to teach some of the principles.

Shared cockpit with control transfer possible is a really great feature to have - I've used it extensively in FSX with people that I'm training "in the real world" and there's no substitute for being in the same plane, hearing the communications from the instructor/student in real time, and the ability to see the control inputs the pilot flying is giving.

This is a feature that can be implemented even if we don't have dedicated trainer aircraft.

I'd welcome something like a PT-17, Jungmann (or better yet a Jungmeister!) but even if we have a while to wait for that, the shared cockpit feature would still allow for very effective flight training in any of the already included aircraft.

Something along these lines is that if an Aircraft has a copilot, that position should be able to be used and there can be a button for swapping control from pilot to copilot. Just a simple idea.

As I'm a fan of intensive training in theoretical as well as practical aspects I  do actually support the idea of shared cockpits. A certain feature, allowing you to take over the controls in a double seated plane would provide a very special facet in virtual pilot training. In the last ten years we had a couple of trainee pilots in our squadron, all of them at a different stage. Especially the very beginners, as I realised, had problems envisioning flying procedures from outside of the cockpit. The possibility to see the steering controls and procedures out of the view of the instructor together with immediate oral comments would certainly be a big advantage (which in my eyes cant be reached by records etc.)  not only for the trainee progress but also the entire atmosphere of the game. The experience I made with shared cockpits in FSX also  confirms my opinion.Perhaps the benefit is rather evident at the early stage of a pilots careerer but nevertheless with appropriate planes you can expand the field of application to areal combat and ground attack training.

I made a short training campaign for for Hurricanes for my mates. They quite liked it (several gunnery missions and the use of the online mountain map saw to that). A trainer would be most welcome, I personally would like the Po-2 as a trainer, as it can also be used for insanely dangerous historical bomber missions.

If I think of a trainer, the Yak7 comes to mind. The fighter was derived from a trainer version of Yak1, and originally retained rear (instructor) cockpit. The two cockpits being identical, I cannot see a simpler way to obtain a trainer from a very important operational type.

Please see my thread in the General Discussions titled: Training. I have some very definite ideas to implement a training wing/regimen/server when this releases. I'm gonna need some instructor pilots too! All of your ideas and comments are welcome over there.
