Rjel Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 The B-17, B-25 and C-47 of the Yankee Air Force over flew my area tonight to commemorate the Japanese surrender signing ceremony in 1945. Caught the B-17 and C-47 on their return to Willow Run airport from Grand Rapids MI where they had circled the Gerald R. Ford International Airport. They flew right over my place on their way home. These private little airshow always mean something special to me. Awesome sight. 2
Trooper117 Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 Can you imagine the sounds of a whole fleet of them!
Rjel Posted June 8, 2024 Author Posted June 8, 2024 Sorry to resurrect this thread but I'm a little bummed that the B-17 in my post was recently sold to a private owner. I've watched this bomber fly over a number of times through the years. Never got a chance to see her close up. https://www.mlive.com/news/ann-arbor/2024/06/michigan-flight-museum-sells-popular-wwii-era-yankee-lady-aircraft.html
