JoyToKey multi-key issues

Recommended Posts

Setting up Virpil Hotas using JoyToKey and have noticed JoyToKey has trouble recognizing multi-key commands (e.g. Shift+B) and whenever I do use the button I assigned using JoyToKey , the result in-game ends up ignoring the first key-press (e.g. "Shift-B" would result in a key-press of "B" in this case).

Am I doing something incorrectly?

Had some similar experiences, stopped using it. Thad's the expert here ?

Salutations,

I only used it primarily to permit joystick versus mouse aiming. ?

Yes, an issue, JoyToKey is not good for "combos" (Shift+B") for games like IL-2:GB, CloD Blitz, because send key press too fast, and don't have option for set a delay between first and second key.

Work OK for things camera controls, where's Alt+F6 is don't cause unwanted command.

I ask about "delay' for JoyToKey developer, although he kindly reply with suggestion the issue still... their focus is gamepad's.

If is not possible simplify commands assignment's for single key - you only need around 30/40 commands for fighters, so have plenty of keys; the alternative is use Joystick Gremlin instead.

XPadder ($10) have this pause ability, but their GUI is more cumbersome than CloD GUI ? and still limited to 32 buttons - few for VirPil controllers, and up to 6 "profiles" - JoyToKey allow 50.

Joystick Gremlin is freeware, active developed/support (author has a Discord  channel), and are similar do TARGET, CH Manager, and support up do 128 buttons (JoyToKey128 too).

Since I need JoyToKey for mouse emulation for camera control, I use for some commands too, like bypass the 'Neutral' of Flaps, LG in certain planes, but avoid combo press.

So you use JoyToKey or Joystick Gremlin?

I use JoyTokey for my needs, basically mouse emulation, create "glance at compass view" for CloD Spit/Hurri.

I find XPadder more powerful but JoyToKey simplicity - don't require install, run from a folder ("as Administrator"), can be started after games, can be reconfigured "on-the-fly", make then the preferred.

To be fair I never try Joystick Gremlin because... is "big, fat" and require install vJoy,  back in time I have headache with vJoy for set R/C transmitter as controller for R/C simulators.
