BornToBattle Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 (edited) Well, one can dream can’t they? Some really nice birds on here...geez, to think an Me109 from the ‘40’s was destined to go over $5 million today. Someone snatched up the Zero I see. Some nice looking ‘51’s and ‘40’s too. https://www.controller.com/listings/search?ScopeCategoryIDs=13&Category=10004 Okay, I’ll admit it. A 1940’s era Schlepp. Never heard of such a thing. Tyberan Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 (edited) Wtf is that schlep? Is it a turbo prop surely airframe is 1943 but modded after war? Edit: found the answer they were modded in 1970's with a lycoming turbo prop has target tow aircraft. But an avenger tbm3 was surprisingly cheap. Also didn't know there was a corsair in Australia, let alone for sale Edited August 28, 2020 by Tyberan
352nd_Wheels Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 The Me-109's look like Hispano Ha-1112's with Merlin engines to me. Pretty sure that there were no flyable 109's in 1968/1969 when the Battle of Britain was filmed either so the claim that one of the 109's that is for sale was used for the movie reinforces my belief. Still several good looking aircraft though. Wheels

You would be surprised how incorrect you are in your thinking. It is not the price but the availability, especially in the United States. Wheels

If you have millions to blow, chances are you will find if such really matters to you. Nonetheless, I agree on the rare nature of such an engine.
