Tobus Posted August 22, 2020 Posted August 22, 2020 Ok, I've bought IL-2 Stalingrad, Kuban and Moscow via Steam. I've linked up my new il-2 account to my steam account. i notice 2 things: 1`. on quick mission, I can not select any aircraft for me or opposing flight. clicking the aircraft in list but after that the selection remains at "none". 2. whatever I manage to start, I get a loading screen with a red bar running at the bottom from left to right. When about 3/4 of the screen, the game ctd's back to steam. I have NO CLUE what to do. FAQ mentions the gamefolder should NOT be read only, which I've checked and isn't. eventvwr gives me status below: Naam van toepassing met fout: Il-2.exe, versie: 1.0.0.1, tijdstempel: 0x5f3a7f47 Naam van module met fout: pid.dll, versie: 10.0.18362.1, tijdstempel: 0xa60b42b2 Uitzonderingscode: 0xc0000005 Foutmarge: 0x0000000000003d83 Id van proces met fout: 0x120 Starttijd van toepassing met fout: 0x01d6789f0b9d587f Pad naar toepassing met fout: H:\Steam\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\bin\game\Il-2.exe Pad naar module met fout: C:\Windows\System32\pid.dll Rapport-id: ef8aa1f1-f696-4cf3-be77-d2c5fbb62162 Volledige pakketnaam met fout: Relatieve toepassings-id van pakket met fout: All help much appreciated, thanks in advance
norsetto Posted August 22, 2020 Posted August 22, 2020 The faulty file seems to be C:\Windows\System32\pid.dll which is a windows system file. Perhaps it is corrupted? Apparently it is the Physical Interface Device library, which is used to interface dinput.dll with usb devices, so perhaps it is a problem with one of your usb peripherals?

AndyJWest Posted August 22, 2020 Posted August 22, 2020 You could try running the 'Verify Integrity of Game Files' option in Steam, to see if that fixes it. And maybe try another game if you have one installed, just to be sure there isn't a wider issue.

I checked read-only on the folder as off, excluded the gamefolder from win defender viruscheck. I'm at a loss... ? Posted a support request on this now. Edited August 23, 2020 by Tobus
Tobus Posted August 23, 2020 Author Posted August 23, 2020 Could it be something didnt register on my buys? When I look at my il2sturmovik page profile under puchases, it's empty. This while I bought Stalingrad, Kuban and Moscow via Steam and linked my accounts?

Check this out, perhaps something there can help. At least you should find BoBp since you bought it from the il2 site.
Tobus Posted August 24, 2020 Author Posted August 24, 2020 Well it seems Steam version is not my problem. all bought stuff is showing in the starter screen, regardless of what the il2 site account is showing me. So the question remains, why am I crashing to desktop the moment I enter the final load into a flight?
Tobus Posted September 1, 2020 Author Posted September 1, 2020 anyone?! Support also taking their time... ?
szelljr Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 You have all installed from "CommonRedist"?(Steam map) (DotNet , vcredist)
RedKestrel Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 1 hour ago, Tobus said: anyone?! Support also taking their time... ? If you are CTDing then you should check the Windows Event Viewer to see if there are errors or events happening when you try and launch tthe game. Pay attention to the time and see if any errors correspond to the time you are noticing. Could be any number of issues. Crashing to Desktop wouldn't indicate missing content but more a problem with your install I would think, or possibly a hardware issue.
Tobus Posted September 3, 2020 Author Posted September 3, 2020 Thanks, Eventvwr stuff posted above. Did reinstalls but that didnt help. My system is stable on any and all applications, sims and games, so that adds to my confusion.

Is the error on the event viewer the same as before the installs?
