Flight Records MIA

To the Developers:

 

I've flown and recorded FC1 continuously since it first came out.   Those Flight Records are very important to me; a great source of enjoyment and utility.  But now, with update 4009, all 1900+ FR have become inoperative.

 

During the past few updates, this Forum published customer concerns that their Flight Records had been affected; but throughout, all the FR's I checked remained viable until now.  

 

(For example: the video VOSS I posted August 9th was actually recorded many months and several updates earlier.  It worked fine until yesterday; now it's kaput with all the rest.)

 

Therefore, in the hope of promoting success for FC in the future, I'm compelled to advise the Developers as to how devastating this latest change is to customers who value those Flight Records as an album of their personal experience with the sim.  

 

To summarize the reactions of my few real-world friends who still fly sims: "It feels like I was robbed."  And then they get profane.

 

Gentlemen, at a time when SP and MP are both awash in customer complaints; I'm not climbing out on a wing at all when I say, "This could be the final nail in FC1's coffin and defeat FC2's chances of ever getting off the ground."  I don't want to see that happen.

 

I don't know what digital aspect of 4009 has caused the previous FR's to stop working; or how (if?) it can be corrected.  Nevertheless, I do strongly encourage the Developers to restore the previous FR capabilities to FC1 ASAP.

I think it happened only once. What happens when people lose access to their flight records? They post about it on the forum. I searched and can't find a thing, other than the one time that it actually happened. 777 even had the courtesy to warn everyone that this was going to happen (see the image below). Yet there are no other similar warnings or mentions of flight records being affected in any of their other update notes. I don't know why people keep thinking this happened regularly in RoF. It never happened when I was using flight records for skin preview images (approx. 2013 - 2015),  and there doesn't seem to be any evidence that it happened more than one time ... update 1.028 in Sep. 2012.

People remember it happening regularly because it did.  There were only a few updates from 2013-2015. 

 

It also happens regularly in BoX.

If you have any flight recording that you enjoy, it is recommended that you record them in the screen capture program of your choice, and hold onto them that way.

Think about it.  RoF and BoX use a very similar game engine and the same dev team.  Why would you possibly expect updates to go any differently?
