Broke my game by linking Steam.

I recently purchased IL-2 BoS on Steam for a 2nd time (I had bought it in 2017 but refunded it because I was disappointed in the lack of coop options back then). I had been playing for the past few days with no problems , I was just getting tired of having my name be Player80xxxx so I figured I'd go ahead and link my account to this website. Big mistake. Now I'm seeing #5 Licence Key not activated". Digging through a few older threads it seems like support is painfully slow / non-existent when it comes to this issue. Is a refund the only option at this point? I've opened tickets - but reading about people waiting weeks or months with no resolution doesn't give me much confidence. It's incredibly frustrating because I convinced 5 friends to buy it for coop missions this weekend, it looks like my only option is to buy it AGAIN through the website on a new account. Is this their intention by not fixing the steam account issues?

Have you bought any content from the IL2 Sturmovik store or have you only the steam content? If you haven´t bought from the IL2 store you have nothing to link to! The link you are creating is to contents of the game not your name in the forum!

Same problem here. So I figure I'll buy something to link up to then I can change my daft player-12345 name. No can do because you need a base game before buying stuff. And my base games are on Steam. Bit of a catch-22. Why does it need to be so impossible to change a name in a game? Now instead of giving my future spendings direct to this site I will need to keep spending on steam because my game base is there. I can't follow the logic. And I can't link up because my login is wrong. How can it be wrong? I am logged in to the Forum and the Store. This is nuts and needs sorting.

 

Ok bought another game this time here then the link worked. So in order to change pilots name on steam it is necessary to buy at least one base game here. Still seems odd.

Every time i am (forced alas) use Steam with a few games bought there i have constantly issues. Cliffs of Dover-Tobruk,  some train sim stuff.

 

I started with Steam with IL2, BoS and BoM. Alas due the issues with buying IL2 stuff later direct, and combining accounts i just bought the 2 again in last years Halloween sale,

no more steam sjait no' mo' at least with IL2.

Had Olya's help to deconnect my combined Steam-Il2 accounts .... Maybe do it now too and get rid of steam? some 80% off the price now.
