GOA_Karaya_VR Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Good day Pilots , i hope that this information helps in any form the ability for spot for those that use Oculus CV1. Finally i'm able to spot very well with this parameters. -------------------------------------- [KEY = graphics] 3dhud = 0 adapter = 0 bloom_enable = 1 canopy_ref = 1 desktop_center = 1 detail_rt_res = 1024 draw_distance = 0.54500 far_blocks = 1 fps_counter = 1 fps_limit = 0 full_height = 1080 full_width = 1920 fullscreen = 0 gamma = 0.70000 grass_distance = 0.00000 hdr_enable = 1 land_anisotropy = 2 land_tex_lods = 0 max_cache_res = 1 max_clouds_quality = 1 mgpu_compatible = 0 mirrors = 0 msaa = 1 multisampling = 1 or_ca = 0.00000 or_dummy = 0 or_enable = 1 or_height = 1904 or_hud_rad = 1.50000 or_hud_size = 0.75000 or_ipd = 0.06461 or_sipdc = 0.00000 or_width = 1600 post_sharpen = 1 preset = 0 prop_blur_max_rpm_for_vr = -1 rescale_target = 1.00000 shadows_quality = 4 ssao_enable = 0 stereo_dof = 5.00000 vsync = 0 win_height = 1080 win_width = 1920 -------------------------------------------- I'm using Oculus Tray tool with: Super Sampling : 1.2 ASW: Off Set Power Plan : High And of Course Open Composite. -S- 1
Drum Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 (edited) Thank you. I would also suggest turning the shadows off completely. This reduces the screen door effect by brightening the space between each pixel with white light which helps shroud the screen door effect. Shadows only reduce clarity as they do in real life, so unless you have a photorealistic image and lots of extra image power to throw around, shadows will only be using up your CPU & GPU resources in an attempt to reduce your picture clarity. Bogeys will actually look blacker and less washed out, thus visibly separate themselves from the screen door effect more. Edited August 20, 2020 by Drum Edit: I'm not using an RTX card though, so possibly true light rendering will help you see bogeys more. Not so with non-RTX I find. 1
Duncan_JB Posted August 27, 2020 Posted August 27, 2020 How does one edit these settings? I got OTT installed alright, but I'm not seeing where all of those parameters are. Thanks D JB
HansBlitz Posted August 27, 2020 Posted August 27, 2020 I've not tested other resolutions but I also run my CV1 with the monitor set at 1920 x 1080, since I'm using an older 32" TV for my monitor, where that is the max resolution that TV will do. I also run OTT set at 1.2 super sampling. From the people I have flown with, they said I spot better than they do.Those were people flying with monitors and TrackIR. Not sure if running that resolution is part of the reason I spot well but I am certainly happy with the spotting I do.

I believe spotting is a little easier in VR, ID'ing the aircraft however is a whole nother story.
NotOnlyforDCS Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 @GOA_Karaya_VR Could you please post your PC specs, just for comparison's sake? I've got the Rift S, and am fiddling around with the settings for best picture clarity/spotting.
