Recently I have occasionally had the force feedback for my elevator axis stop working while flying. I can still fly, the game input works correctly. I still feel the centering force and various effects for the aileron axis, but the elevator axis has no centering and no effects. This only happens occasionally, but makes flying, especially in formation, a much more hands-on affair. Sometimes restarting the game has corrected it, sometimes it has not. I have opened up the MSFFB2 to look for any obvious trouble, but didn't see anything. I also swapped simpits with my brother, which included his MSFFB2 joystick (he had the wrong seat color, so we swapped everything). He hasn't had any issues with my former joystick and I just had the elevator axis go out on his former joystick. I don't think it's a mechanical or electrical issue with the joystick (although I won't rule out the possibility), it may be a software issue with my machine specifically (which is why it doesn't show up on my brother's machine).

Has anyone else had issues with a single axis of feedback for their force feedback joystick? Does anyone have any ideas for how to troubleshoot this?

I had many problems with the MSFFB till I plugged it into a powered USB hub.  That fixed everything.

I use a USB extension to reach my simpit, not a USB hub. My brother also uses an extension to reach his simpit with no issues. Still, that could be it. I'll try plugging the extension into a different slot on my computer. If I still have issues, I have a powered extension I can try. Thanks for the advice!

The issue you are having is a well know issue and it's yet to be solved.

My setup:

MSFFB2 connected directly (without a USB extender cord) to a powered USB 2.0 hub.

When it occurs:

Usually when I go from flying a single-player mission (i.e. quick mission/scripted campaign/career/single mission) to a multiplayer mission without restarting the game.

How to prevent it:

Restart the game after flying single-player and proceed directly to fly multiplayer.

Note: You can go from multiplayer to single-player missions without issue (...just not vice versa).

Shit happens, that. I know this problem. The only workaround I have found so far is to restart the game/PC regularly in intervals of one hour, approx.

I flew 4 hours straight for the Black September server test today with no issues. I did not use the powered extension, but the joystick was plugged in to a different port than when I last had the loss of feedback and I did not do any singleplayer before. I will pay closer attention to what I'm doing if/when I have this trouble again. Thanks for giving me something to look out for.
