Something you guys might find interesting.. hope it helps someone who has this issue in future.

I just got my Valve Index, setup VR, started tuning and discovered I could get plenty of frames with my Rig (using fpsVR). Switched SteamVR to 90hz and turned off motion smoothing.

However once I turn my graphics settings down to try to get my frames up to 90fps no matter what I do it would lock at steady 75 fps in the headset (shown in fpsVR).

I was going mad checking double checking Vsync in-game, in the nvidia panel, changing my monitor refresh rate etc. Everything I've read about Gsync is that it shouldn't cap the frames and it shouldn't affect VR because it applies to the monitor.

It intrigued me that this is  the max refresh of my monitor, and that IL-2 is a game "not developed for VR", ie a 2D game adapted to VR. So I thought it may be limited to what can display on the monitor..

After several hours I eventually turned off Gsync and boom finally I can get 90fps! Doesn't make sense, and kind of annoying because I still want to play 2D for DCS with GSync..

I should also mention my monitor is FREESync, running Gsync compatible mode via Gsync on an Nvidia RTX 2070 if it makes a difference.

Now I just have to get over the motion sickness from my first flight ?

my monitor is also G-sync and I always was running G-sync off when playing IL-2 in VR. Just in case.

Yeah it's unfortunate, and not what gsync is supposed to do. It's not too bad I guess because 99% of the time I only have time for IL-2 anyway, other games are for another lifetime.

Maybe others didn't notice it if their refresh rate on their monitor is higher than the FPS in VR.
