I need some help with opentrack, I've finished installing my ps3 camera after removing the IR filter and adding a daylight filter. Now I need some help getting the rest to work. Do you recommend using the zoomed in view (rotate lens to the left) or the normal one? IR light tracking seems to work better zoomed in for me. I'm using this camera in combination with the Delanclip. I've tried importing Eyek's profile into opentrack but it doesn't seem to work correctly, when I move my face there is hardly any movement. See my attached screenshot. Like it only loads up some settings. Thanks for any help.
No_85_Gramps Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 (edited) For starters, with the mapping properties open, click on the yaw tab and you'll be able to see how much movement you are getting. Sometimes you just need to play around with those settings, try it on the pitch and roll tabs also. As your move your head keep an eye on the movement in the mapping properties and adjust them to get the movement you are looking for. And what version of opentrack are you using? Also in the main window watch the readouts at the top to see how much travel you are getting. Your yaw reading should go from 0 to 180 and 0 to -180. Have you tried it in-game? Normally you won't see lots of movement in the main screen of opentrack but you'll find it works okay in the game. Can't comment on the PS3 camera as I do not use it. Keep us posted! Fliegenpilz Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 I mostly use the zoomed in setting. Just make sure you don't move out of the cameras viewsight. Remember to specify exactly what dimensions your IR-model has! Maybe that's why it doesn't work?
TRA_Rogue Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 I've finally managed to get opentrack working as it should for me, at least for all the axes. All I need to do is finetune some filter settings, as I find my current ones are a bit too "grainy". After trying so much with opentrack first I decided to download Facetracknoir and see how it worked. I found it far more user friendly for a facetracking noob like myself, since most of it's axes and curve settings are explained much better. Naturally it has it's restrictive pitch up/down view in IL2:BoS so I knew it wouldn't be an option for the long term. But it gave me a much better understanding of all the different settings I could use with these kinds of programs. I have also moved my webcam from the center to the rightmost corner of my screen, since at the center it would often see 2 ir leds overlap when I looked down, causing it not to work anymore. I'm currently using opentrack 2.2-end of alpha 2. Maybe copy pasting settings from a different version don't work exactly as they should have? My filter settings at the moment are: rotation: 60.0 translation: 40.0 order #2: 80.0 order #3: 120.0 rotation deadband: 0.05 translation deadband: 0.05 exponent: 1.4 If anyone has any settings for a bit smoother settings let me know please. You definitely have to fine tune it to meet your needs. Here are the accela settings from eyek's ini file: rotation: 20.1 translation: 20.1 order #2: 8.10 order #3: 8.10 rotation deadband:0.2 translation deadband: 1.8 exponent: 1.0 These work okay in my setup but I use a Logitech C270 camera. PS3 is supposed to be great in opentrack but again, you'll need to experiment with the numbers to see what works for you.

This is great!!!! Absolutely what I was looking for, I just had to tweak the pitch setting a bit for my taste/setup. Thank you very much Sir!! Natural, no problems with limits, easy to look behind and not at all twitchy.. Perfect.. I expect my awareness and dogfighting will increase a lot.. Many thanks again o7 Percy

Very happy, I did some modification to the curves giving me a little dead zone which I like for eye balling the gun sight and I am modifying the yaw to give me a good compromise between fine location movement and quick head tracking. It is so much nicer to have a IR setup to FaceTrackNoIR. Still finding vertical movement a bit restricted i.e. looking up but I am sure I will figure it out. For now, time to get on line and have fun without my tracking going psycho.

It isn't much except for vertical head movement which has more of a dead zone. Allows one to forward look into the gun sight without the need for a snap look bind or pausing the tracking.
