Jaws2002 Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 (edited) Interesting article! For the first time in 36 years there's no flu season in South Africa! https://www.news24.com/amp/news24/southafrica/investigations/for-the-first-time-in-36-years-there-will-be-no-flu-season-in-south-africa-20200807 From the article: " Sentinel programmes are yet to pick up cases of flu in South Africa, for the first time in nearly four decades. World Health Organisation data shows a significant decline in flu season for the southern hemisphere. Only one case of flu has been detected in Gauteng since the start of the year." The reason behind it, they say, is the COVID19 measures in place...and i agree, that all this travel bans, lock downs and extra caution, should have a noticeable effect on the number of cases..... But, isn't it possible that they are counting all the typical flu cases as COVID19 cases now? Just something to think about. Edited August 16, 2020 by Jaws2002 1
