A few general questions...

for the general discussion section. Apologies in advance if the answers to some are well known.

1) Any way of getting aircraft speed, altitude and heading to show up in a little info window like the engine controls? Doesn't look like it but wanted to ask in case I was missing something.

2) Any way to bind a key to toggle aircraft labels on/off?

3) Is anyone else having trouble hearing the AI radio calls? For me they are buried so far down under the other noises I can barely make out what they are saying.

(This may be a little like the old "the food at this place is terrible"....."I know, and such small portions!" joke since I hate that there are only two voices for the whole RAF and made a separate post about it, but after looking in the files, they do at least have tons of different lines of speech so might as well be able to actually hear what we've got!)

4) I noticed in the German speech folder, there are 4 actor folders, as opposed to 2 in the Great Britain folder. Are there 4 different voice actors for the Germans?

5) If someone were to say, hypothetically, create new folders for Great Britain for 'actor3' and actor4', and then copy over the speech file contents of 'actor2' into the new folders after pitch shifting them a bit to get them to sound a little different, would you hear them in game? In other words, is it just that the voice actor files never were able to be added, or that there needs to be all kinds of work done just to even get them to be heard even if they were there?

Thanks for any responses, have been enjoying what's been done so far more than I was expecting.

No.

But for exclusive use offline you can create one with scrips, need add the script in every mission, what is not practical in missions that already have scripts, since need integrate, and if you are not expert in C#... so is more curiosity than practical.

Yes, but are no button/key in controls for this, is need type command mp-dotrange in game console., awkward.

See this topic in ATAG how set, including a way to use a joystick button via keymapper.

3-4) Is anyone else having trouble hearing the AI radio calls? For me they are buried so far down under the other noises I can barely make out what they are saying.

Yes, know issue. The voice samples (.ogg) records is not well made, and result more muted in game.

Some are almost inaudible even playing from Speech folder.

And are several speeches "to do", are only the index file in the folder, with 4kb and don't play any sound. I fill some mixing parts of other voice samples.

Yes, 2 actors for RAF, 4 for Luftwaffe, but both sees recorded by the same persons, since are very little difference between actor1 and actor2.

Anyway, other than bearings from "control tower", are nothing useful in AI chat.

I guess that will not work, because are no "actor 3 and 4" for RAF in game code.

But you can test, create the folder 3 and 4 inside Speech folder "gb" and record a voice sample need use the same names of files existing for actor1 e 2, in .ogg format, for example "Landing_permited" (that don't exist,  I mix others sounds as replacement) and the see if game will play, using TAB-7-2.

Hey thanks a bunch for taking the time for such detailed answers Sokol, not what I was hoping to hear but I really appreciate it!

May I take advantage of this "general question " thread to ask the following.

1-Where can I find the default convergence setting for the Blitz and Tobrouk aircrafts..

As a NON multiplayer , flying essentially quick and single missions I am not allowed to set my own settings and without knowing the gun convergence of my aircraft is quite disturbing at least .

Thanks for any help.

Convergence you can adjust in Options > Plane, select a plane, hit Loadout button, then Guns > Convergence.

Default adjusts use to be visible there, by checking the box "Default Convergence" but in 5.002 is no more. Neither check this box  hit Apply (in two screens) and look at User.ini is not write there, I think because this defaults have decimal and now Loadout don't use decimal. Adjusts in hundred, dozens, is write.  E.g.

[Aircraft.Bf-109E-3]
  conv _Gun00 Gun.MG17 250 400

For British fighters is default use be 338.3281 meters, what translate in 370 yards, since in game gunsight range adjust is in yards, in 10 increments.

This default could be usable against bombers, but for fighters is too far.

Quote

RAF Pilot "tale" (Sgt. Herbert David Denchfield memories,  Spitfire Mk.I cockpit drill):

" ...and check the reflector gun sight was set to 250 yard range and 60ft span (60ft was about right for heavy stuff and made sure that for 109s I'd be a lot closer than 250 yards)."

Don't remember convergence for Luftwaffe fighters and bombers.

You can adjust vertical and horizontal convergence there, this adjust remain default and prevails for all kind of flight (SP or MP) until you change again.

Remember that convergence need be done for each weapon available in the plane.

Is easy confirm that adjusts are working, set vertical convergence for just one MG at 1000 or more, select a QM with this plane and fire, you see than MG tracer above the others.

Now adjust ammo belts is a convoluted matter, relatively easy to do, but time consuming and difficult to use, at least in a easy way, need edit text files, or use 3rd part external tools , made at long time, so may work, may not.

Perhaps the more easy way to do is in FMB and after copy this adjust for User.ini.

BTW - I am writing this and checking in Options > Plane, and don't see "defaults anymore there, leave me confuse (again)  with this confuse matter. ?

Have just started trying to play the game again. Was initially put off by the cumbersome UI. Still have a couple of questions. Are all of the cockpit controls supposed to be clickable? It seems that some are, but I am not sure. The name of the lever/toggle etc comes up in a box, but I can't actuate it. On the converse side, using keyboard commands do not seem to move anything in the cockpit. I've been trying to fly a Hurricane. I have mapped rudder, elevator trim to the pov switch on my Warthog, but don't see either of the wheels moving when I try to trim the aircraft.

It seems to work only for multiplayer. Any changes made here has no effect in single player...

Before Tobruk - it was possible login to MP server, setup there type of ammo and convergece as you wish, save it and in SP (quick mission or campaign) there was loadout section (WHY IS MISSING NOW???) where you could choose what you saved, but this workflow does not work anymore.

i see no way to manage your guns in SP = flying SP is really pain.

Main menu - options - plane is where it is done. That has always been the most reliable option, from the SP mission menu it would often not save correctly so that's why they removed that menu.

OK I understand. But it still has no effect in SP. I tried it many times and I allways have default loadout in SP missions.

No, just some commands are clickable, and some like magnetos switch have just cosmetic effect for start the engine, without practical effect - despiste being promised that will work correct in 5.0.

Are too a limitation in the number of animations possible in cockpit, so you may have a important command clickable but not animated, but have another less important,  like that pumping lever in some planes, clickable and animated.

I have elevator and rudder trim mapped in the keys "WASD" and work OK for Hurricane, including the wheels in cockpit move.

Test with joystick button and POV HAT (VKB Gladiator) and work OK too.

Check your assignment's.

Options > Controls > Keys > Aircraft

Trim Elevator Nose-Up.... etc.

Loadouts in Options > PLane or FLY page (now removed) never have plenty effect in Single Player, exception for put bombs in some planes, this bombs loadout are selectable under plane picture in Quick Mission menu.

But no way for use this loadouts - even only bombs, created of Options > Planes in Single and Campaign missions, for these prevails what are defined by Mission Maker in FMB, mostly just keep the game defaults, with plenty of noneffective ball ammo and lot of tracers for Spit/Hurri.

The only thing that work flawless is convergence adjust, what you set in Options > Plane prevails for any kind of flight.

Easy to confirm, setting a far convergence (e.g. 1000 meters) for just one weapon, will see their tracer above the others

For set ammo belts, or enter in Mp server, or use FMB or use 3rd part software, that need workaround with folder because was done for CloD - MOD, don't ask how use in Single and Campaign's missions.
