Team Fusion Buzzsaw Posted August 16, 2020 Team Fusion Posted August 16, 2020 We will be adding update patches every week for the next while. Some of these include visual updates and changes which can affect the graphics. For that reason, after every game patch please make sure you delete the cache folder in: Documents/1C SoftClub/il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover/ 4
cardboard_killer Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 I don't have a file named cache, just a folder with a number of files and a subfolder named shaders

Avimimus Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 (edited) Q: It is the "Documents/1C SoftClub/il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover/cache"? Or should it be everything in "Documents/1C SoftClub/il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover/"? Note: I apparently uninstalled and then reinstalled the sim - not realising that the cache had been left intact! I didn't realise it was causing my graphical/rendering issues. Is there a way that this could be made a part of the update process? If not, then I suspect we'll need ongoing reminders to do it manually! Part of every patch notes. I do wonder if less technically oriented people will figure out how to do it... but then again, this sim still requires people to map several important controls themselves - so it probably isn't much more complicated. FTC_Karaya Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 You can safely delete the entire "cache" folder. It will be rebuilt from scratch when you start the game. 1 1
dazako Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 Over years playing Cliffs I've seen many posts reporting glitches and oddities, experienced a few myself. With the majority of these being solved simply by deleting the cache folder I've made it a routine procedure done after every session. Daz 1

Blitzen Posted August 17, 2020 Posted August 17, 2020 My Cache folder always seems to be full of aircraft skins and I can't figure out why.Should I delete them as well? Thanks! 1

Thanks! Cache stores skins that you may have downloaded from a MP server that is using custom skins for example. You can safely delete the whole folder, if you fly with custom skins again they will just be loaded into the folder again - you aren't actually deleting any of the skins from the paintschemes folder.

Thanks! itll also store the dds files that i think the viewer uses plus any skins you may have used yourself and in any SP missions. I dont think deleting these is essential. You could just delete the shaders folder I guess.
fliddlesticks Posted August 18, 2020 Posted August 18, 2020 Waiting on an answer from Buzzsaw or somebody that knows. I too always find skins in my cache as well as shaders. I don't do multiplayer. I've been deleting them, but I'm concerned that I may be deleting files I need and will come up short on skins if I keep deleting them. Help!

You can delete them safely without causing trouble. The cache folder should be deleted whenever a new patch comes out. 1 1 1
DavePro Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 The oldies are the goodies. I've solved a number of problems by deleting the cache, so now I delete on every update as recommended. I found one a few days ago where an FMOD error stopped missions loading and deleting the cache didn't stop it. Nor did verifying files. However, restarting the PC did. Worth a thought for anyone who's stuck, in these times when a lot of PC's stay on permanently.

343KKT_Kintaro Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 Apparently not only the cache folder content had to be deleted as the flashcards weren't replaced with new files having the same name...

Skywarp Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 (edited) Guys, after the last update (80 Mb) I'm having an issue: at single missions, when joining furballs, FPS is falling to 15... it used to be 75 FPS (because I set it to 75 Max Frame Rate), but if I set free, FPS in CLoD used to reach values like 100 / 120 FPS. I forgot to delete the Cache Folder, late I'll try this hint. (On DCS and IL-2 GB everything is normal, I keep on reaching high FPS) Edited September 27, 2020 by Skywarp
Skywarp Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 Deleting the Cache Folder didn't work. I still have crashes when loading a offline mission, and my FPS falls while in mission until the game crashes again. And I cannot join Multiplayer, the loading bar freezes on 0% and I have to close the game and open it again.
