Bo_Nidle Posted September 29, 2020 Posted September 29, 2020 Looking forward to this one. Huge fan of the Razorback P-51B/C. But don't forget to lose the D whistle, as the Razorbacks didn't/don't whistle like the D/K bubbletops. 1

So that plane might be a tad bit before the timeframe of BoN. Nevertheless Captain Don Gentile or Captain John Trevor Godfrey supposedly shot down the CO of JG3 "Udet" Wolf-Dietrich Wilcke (160ish ace) near Brunswick in 3/44 : Interesting! Just drove through Schöppenstedt (where Wilcke supposedly came down) twice today on my way to Halberstadt* and back! Just scrolled through this thread again to read-up on some info on the P-51 B/C. Coincidences... Something different came to my mind: Will the B/C have the 2x1000lb bomb capacity? Those bombs were eventually cleared on the B/C. The wings had been cleared for 1000lb initially, but some A-36 pilot thought it was a good idea to do a rolling pull-out with dive brakes out and 2x1000lb bombs attached near max dive speed and henceworth folded a wing - thus the clearance was reduced to 500lb on each wing for some time. ___ * I was looking for remnants of the Junkers production-facilities there, but there's absolutely zip left. 1

Same with AGO in Oschersleben. I was there shortly after the iron-curtain fell. Didn´t find some remains. However there seems to be a local book about AGO: René Scheer: AGO-Flugzeugwerke. Vom Gitterrumpf zur Me 262. Ziethen, Oschersleben 2014, ISBN 978-3-86289-078-1 AGO-Flugzeugwerke: Vom Gitterrumpf zur Me 262: Amazon.de: Scheer, René, Scheer, René: Bücher Scheer, René – AGO-Flugzeugwerke.
