Lusekofte Posted August 13, 2020 Posted August 13, 2020 I do not like to sound demanding or ungrateful. I knew already when I saw ai Wellington in first flight all those years that looking out from that plane would be restrictive. The only time I miss VR is in bombardier position. Being able to use all axis to have a look outside. The view is very restrictive parallel sideways. I wish there where a navigator station where you could use the big side windows to look out. I know this is a resource ful task and will not happened. But without outside view observing is very restricted 1

Lusekofte Posted August 13, 2020 Author Posted August 13, 2020 (edited) Trackir works in turrets without restrictions. But view is aweful due to the construction. In bombardierstation the view is restricted because of you can not move head paralell sideways or down. You can only look sideways up and down from a static head. Rendering you to not look forward. Making spotting targets is horrible. I am away from home so I cannot provide screenshots right now. But for me, flying Wellington is a dream I had a long time Edited August 13, 2020 by 216th_LuseKofte
56RAF_Stickz Posted August 13, 2020 Posted August 13, 2020 (edited) yes it does, although any view from the bomb aimer position is very limited. Then again, looking at his position irl short of rolling upside down and stuffing face under the sight cannot imagine getting much of a view for sightseeing. Turrets are pretty cramped, and have not actually taken control of one to attempt rotating it. But there is a lot of stuff in the way, again limiting your view. Perhaps here a VR may enable to to see out better, guess I will never know. Dont think it would help bombadier position though. I believe there was a video from pattle or perhaps buzz somewhar prior to release showing a turret view. Maybe the overhead London (D day?) celebration they did. ha sniped by lufte, but it is great to fly - just a bugger to high level bomb Edited August 13, 2020 by 56RAF_Stickz

56RAF_Stickz Posted August 13, 2020 Posted August 13, 2020 yeah about 600ft/min I get (guess thats <200m/min for you continentals) with 38% fuel and 18x250 or 9x500lbs. Taking off from Gravesend I barely make 14000ft by the French coast if go direct. I keep hitting short - but then for some reason I always found I needed in the blennie to knock off 1000ft to hit (even when allowing tgt height). Thats assuming I even get lined up from cockpit prior to reaching target. It also seems very hard to get it to settle to a straight line approach when turning on using auto steer part of bomb control (I seldom use the full height hold). Then if you click the nudge left/right steer commands from bomb sight it seems to roll a lot so makes it hard to tweak the run in - or at least with my attempts so far. Somewhere between a heavy bomber and medium rather than a medium to me. (Ooh for a20 and beaufort in desert)

Lusekofte Posted August 14, 2020 Author Posted August 14, 2020 Well I try it out. I kind of like having a hard time. Then I get good at it. Only when you messed up big time you remember and can do it blind
