Todt_Von_Oben Posted August 12, 2020 Posted August 12, 2020 (edited) Never seen this one before. Looking for the rest of it now. ADDIT: My wife found it on Youtube in fifteen minute segments. Going to watch it now on TV. Yeah, it's theater; I know. Got some bitchin' planes, though. Enjoy! ADDIT 2: OMG. It's Lucasfilms. It's young Indiana Jones. Warning: this movie might drive a serious history buff insane. But it's fun, kind of funny, and at least there are some planes in it. Watching episode six and making popcorn. Why not? It's raining. ADDIT 3: Watched all seven episodes. Manfred Von Richthofen paints his Albatros red on a suggestion from young Indiana Jones? And then, Jones is sent into Germany as a spy to promote Anthony Fokker's defection to the Entente? "Waiter! Check, please!" Edited August 13, 2020 by Todt_Von_Oben 1
=IRFC=Gascan Posted August 13, 2020 Posted August 13, 2020 Gloriously campy! It doesn't pretend to be based on a true story, it's Indiana Jones. I gave up expecting good history from Hollywood a long time ago and just enjoy the ride as best I can. It has as much to do with WW1 flying as Star Wars has to do with space combat, but it's still a fun story that happens to have cool planes and some great cinematography for the time. 1
Cynic_Al Posted August 13, 2020 Posted August 13, 2020 You should find a used DVD copy cheap on ebay. You can rest your tea mug on it while watching something more credible.
J5_Konnecke Posted August 13, 2020 Posted August 13, 2020 It may be campy, but you gotta respect any aircraft film that does not use the Stuka siren every time a plane descends in altitude.
Todt_Von_Oben Posted August 14, 2020 Author Posted August 14, 2020 (edited) I'm trying to like these additional comments but the system says I have exceeded my liking allowance for the day. LOL! Anyway, I think this is part of an old TV series about Henry Jones; all new to me. There's more on Youtube: something about "in the trenches." I could buy one on eBay but after seeing this last one I'm not even interested in downloading it for free until I have absolutely nothing else to do; which ain't ever likely. LOL! Al: I have four old and defunct copies of THE BLUE MAX and do use the plastic cases that came with those as impromptu mouse pads, straight edges for drafting, and as a coaster for my coffee cup. Great movie with minimal DVD longevity at my house. Konnecke: Yep. LOL! ADDIT: One time, I did a gigantic Split-S in Yolo DZ's C-182 jump plane "Two-Seven-Ugly" to escape observation and identification by a Travis AFB C5A in the vicinity after dropping a load of cloud-punching skydivers from twelve-five. I held it inverted so long the airspeed indicator was above the red line and she was shaking like a wet hound; screaming like one of those damn Stuka sirens. LOL. Oh, Travis AFB did call the DZ and complain to dropzone operator George Morar but he didn't scold me for it. ;-) Prosit! Edited August 14, 2020 by Todt_Von_Oben
