343KKT_Kintaro Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 Well, I previously asked that question on the thread that is titled "Temporary Download for New Flashcard Manuals", but I don't know if it is the right place for such a question. My problem is the following: I simply can't find out the magnetos on the D.520's dashboard. Where are they? When I use my keyboard with my own assigned keys for the magnetos, the interactive texts on screen note that the magnetos switch progressively as I want : "2+1", "2", "1", and finally "0"... but no animation is visible in the cockpit. And when both magnetos are supposedly turned off, the "contact" lever on the left hand side moves forward. Then the engine stops. But no magnetos are visible in the cockpit. At home I have the special "Dewotine D.520" in the "Les Ailes de gloire" magazine series (it's number 8 in the series and it was published in 2002). On page 30 one can read that the engine ignition was ensured by two magnetos model "R.B.-ROD 12" and that the so mentioned magnetos supplied electricity to 24 spark plugs. Pages 24 and 25 show photographs of the dashboard and even a technical drawing of the dashboard. But none of them shows any switches for the magnetos ON the dashboard or IN the cockpit. This is some kind of a mistery... where the heck those magneto switches were on board a D.520?
Madcop Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 (edited) I think the D.520 Cockpit is not complete. Look at the central pic and at the pics of both sides of the cockpit. You will notice all the missing items from the game cockpit. I think that the best cockpits are still to be find in the aircrafts from Blitz and their updating for Tobrouk. The Tobrouk new aircrafts cockpits are just boring, soulless, cold and unfinished...just like the map. Two major backward steps. Edited August 11, 2020 by Madcop forgot words
343KKT_Kintaro Posted August 11, 2020 Author Posted August 11, 2020 You are bit to hard on TFS. You can't imagine the amount of work a game like DW - Tobruk does represent. Nevertheless I thank you for the image and response. I guess that one thing is looking at a photograph and notice that some items are missing in the simulation, and another that is completely different is finding out the technical information that corresponds to the so mentioned missing items.
DD_Arthur Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 Have you tried starting the engine without turning the magnetos on?

Turn on magnetos have no influence for start engines, is just a "what if fantasy", because when you hit "I" magnetos is turned OFF and then ON for engine start, if are OFF is tuned ON automatically, so don't require player interaction. The only pre-requirement for engines start is turn on fuel cock(s) and in some planes set throttle in 10%, others start with throttle closed or up to 20%. Only in Beaufigher are practical reason for turn ON magnetos, not because they are need, but because this operation flip up the cover over engine start buttons - weird as sound, and so you can just click over this buttons (they are not animated - probable because animations limit was reached) and start engine without use "I". I usually fly the -110 so have never done it but hopefully someone can confirm my understanding. So with this in mind we included the magnetos step in the flashcard so that players would at least know where the control is if they play MP. 1 1
