Mirror settings in IL2 GB? Well, I can tell you the following according to my experience:

- if you use "complex" mode, then it is certainly nice, but the toll on performance is very high

- if you use "medium" mode, it is still nice and you will see all you need in combat and performance-wise it is great

- if you use "simple" mode, well as it states, simple and sometimes confusing because you only see your opponent,

but nothing more - it is simple

- if you use "off" mode, then nothing happens, except you might gain some extra FPS.

Seeing your rig's information, you may try "complex" mode, although spotting wise you will not gain any advantage.

With my system I set the mirror mode to "medium" - it runs well and I can spot the guy just before he shoots me down.

That is the thing. I fly with 4k monitor, all maxed out except 2xAA.  In P-38 mirror i can see contacts way far.. (for example yesterday on Combat Box I saw 5 planes in the mirror at 10-20k distance,  but only ONE when checking my 6...).

So I suspect the mirror resolution is likely much less (1600x1200? maybe) and has simplified graphics to some degree. It looks still quite nice/acceptable..so just wondering...

Say what now?  If that's true, it's unreal.  In a time when many of us are struggling to see contacts at 4km away, and 9km is a dream.    Maybe it's the smaller FOV that a mirror provides, which IL2 treats as zoom.

If contacts can be spotted from 20km away using a mirror, then I am asking the devs for a small, hand-held mirror to take along on my flights because... I, uhh...  I have rapid accumulation of beard stubble on my face, yeah that's it, and so I need to shave frequently so's to look good for the ladies when I land, yeah, that's the ticket....

Hard to tell the exact distance, but I thin it was at least 10k...

I was wondering why using the reflective plates on the nacelles of the P-38 I could never confirm visually landing gear position, that is until I put it on complex. So now complex is always checked for me.
