Stache999 Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 (edited) Hi, this campaign uses the E7 Tropical. In the first few missions I've tried, it loads the plane with four bombs. I have been unable to... 1) find out how to start without bombs - changing loadout does not seem to help 2) just drop the bombs to get rid of them (yes I have seen the key mapping) 3) Arm and Release the bombs (yes I have the bombs arm in key mapping, but my release bombs does nothing.) Any thoughts on what I am missing? Thanks, Edited August 10, 2020 by Stache999
Sokol1 Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 (edited) 1 - In game GUI I guess are no way. Custom loadout in Options > Plane is not used in Single and Campaign missions, only in Quick Missions. An alternative, manual edit: Go to the file: ...\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover Blitz\parts\bob\mission\campaign\"campaign name"\ Localize the first .mis file, first make backup y of file first, just select and Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V. Open the mission file - with Notepad (don't use Word/Wordpad) is he "name mission".mis file find Bf 109 E7 and delete bombs reference. Something like, under Bf-109E7 name ... belt _Gun00 Gun.MG17 MainBelt 1 0 0 4 4 detonator Bomb.SC-250_Type1_J 2 -1 0 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<delete detonatorPreset Default Bomb.SC-250_Type1_J 2 -1 0<<<<<<<<<<<delete weapons 1 1 3 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<delete only the 3 leaving weapons 1 1 ... Save the file and test this mission, if OK do the same with the other .mis files in the folder. Edited August 10, 2020 by Sokol1
Yardstick Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 Just tried the first mission in this campaign. To paraphrase the briefing: "...patrol at 3,000m over Tobruk, engage any enemy aircraft you encounter...". Go into the mission and I'm sitting on the runway in an E-7/Trop with 4 SC100s loaded!?

See Soko1's answer.... you can de-select them.
Stache999 Posted August 10, 2020 Author Posted August 10, 2020 Ahh if only it were that simple... Plane has nose guns and wing cannons (plus the unwanted bombs) Make no sense why only one Weapon listed. Pretty sure the autopilot did drop the bombs in one flight. Sokol1 Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 Looks like that in this cases bombs are in default Bf 109 E-7 loadout. Seems "default" loadout is hidden inside some SFS file, not accessible for player. Changes made in Options > Plane don't overwrite "default". So rest await a patch fixing this. I think that "default" loadout should be made accessible for player do their changes, will minimize this long last loadout confusion, e.g. Spitfire continue with that low effective ammo belts made ~ 8/9 years ago.
