We recommend you take off and do most of your flying in automatic.

There are two automatic settings:

A:  Keeps rpms at 2200.  Used normally for climbing.... with ata at 1.30/1.35.

S:  Keeps rpms at 2400.  Used for full performance and takeoff... with ata at between 1.23 or 1.3/1.35 for full power, and 1.4/1.45. (WEP)

Manual, (M) is usually only used for cruising or if your governor has taken damage.  You have to be careful because rpms will climb very quickly.

You were over-revving your engine in your video just after takeoff because you were in Manual... rpms were close to 3000...  too high.

How long can be maintained the prop pitch on Super?

Another question: to switch from Manual to Super, is it necessary to reduce the throttle or do something else? To avoid damage, I mean.

Thanks.

You have to be careful when switching from Super to Manual because the default prop pitch is now 0% (will be set back to 100% eventually) meaning that if you arent quick to either adjust prop pitch or switch over to automatic you will overrev the engine and suffer damage. If you start on the ground I would therefore recommend you switch to manual once, set pitch to 60% or higher and then back to automatic or super for takeoff.

Ok, thanks for the tip, Karaya.

Can the switching between Automatic and Super instead take place without too many troubles?

Any ideas on running times at 2400 rpm (Super) before taking damage?

It depends on the ata/boost you are running in conjunction with the 2400 rpm Super gives you.

At 1.35/1.30 ata, you have approx. 5 minutes.

At 1.45/1.4 ata you have approx. 1 minute.

Note:  Those times can vary... if you are travelling at low speed, your engine will overheat sooner because less cooling air is being forced through the radiators.  If you are travelling at very high speeds, your engine will take longer to overheat due to the large volume of air forced through the rads.

The key is to watch the temperature gauge for your coolant and for your oil.

Max recommended temp for coolant is 100 degrees C, and for oil, 105 degrees C.

Always reduce throttle before moving from S to Manual.

Thanks.

I would also suggest using the prop pitch mode Decrease button in addition to the Toggle button for Prop Pitch.

That way you can use the Toggle to go to Super and then the Decrease button to go back to Auto.

Or go From Auto to Manual.

Instead of having to go Auto-Super-Manual like when using the Toggle button.

Since this lets you Switch between Super and Auto without having to worry about engine damage when you jump through the Manual mode.
