(87 octane versions) Select 100 octane versions in the early Hurri I and Spit I types to get allowable boost cutout. 1
56RAF_Stickz Posted August 8, 2020 Posted August 8, 2020 as far as I can determine boost cut out control not working for beaufighter. For a 1F on either tobruk or channel maps I can only attain 4lbs and there is no indication the control is being activated (obviously there is no visual indication on the cockpit control to check). Tried with 100oct hurri and a blenheim on channel map and the controls (HOTAS or keyboard T or click cockpit control) work and give the usual text indication. Went to Tobruk tried beaufighter1c and could get 6.5lbs, but still no boost cut out operation indication nor could I set it for the lower value (ie appears boost cut out always on). So swapped for the 1F on same mission now could only get the 4lbs as on channel map. Restarted game but results unchanged. Is this a change to the 1F, and does the beaufighter no longer have boost cutout?

Is this a change to the 1F, and does the beaufighter no longer have boost cutout? +4.0 boost is the maximum for the 1F.... it has the earlier Hercules III engine. The later IF-Late and IC have the Hercules IX and this allows +6.75 boost. The Beaufighter throttle goes from 0-100, there is no boost cutout. Normal boost setting for 30 minutes is +2.5 for the Beau IF, and +3.5 for the Beau IF-Late and IC... normal 30 minute rpms are 2400 for IF and 2500 for IF-Late and IC. 56RAF_Stickz Posted August 8, 2020 Posted August 8, 2020 thanks buzz, I went and checked the wiki (obviously outdated now). Flown it so many times couldnt understand why no more cut out indicated. Saw this thread and thought it maybe same thing. Cant download that link, comes up with a catcha thingy but nought to check and doesnt seem to be my browser locking anything. (I can seldom get em to work any way). Its no problem, I hadnt been using the cards cos many mentioned percentages and I never used that. I can get by until they come through steam. I just wish I could turn on the tomahawk gunsight - can see a gunsight switch by left knee but no work?

Im a beginner, i use the plane in the training mode: "First solo Flight" so i guess that Buzzsaw you are right it may not be the version of plane with boost cut out option available! But it seems to me that i can't change plane in training mode ? Best regards, Antoine

Best regards, Antoine The plane in the training flight is an 87 octane version... no you can't select different aircraft for training missions. You can select "Cross Country Flight" and select the aircraft you want from the original BLITZ game... this mission is a good training mission, lets you practice takeoffs and flying around, then finding your airfield and landing. 1
Art-J Posted August 8, 2020 Posted August 8, 2020 I was wondering about boost cutout in Beaus as well. Thanks for clarification. If the cutout doesn't exist anymore, you guys might want to edit lists and screenshots on relevant flashcards accordingly, in some future revision.

See the revised Aircraft Flashcard Manuals here:... I have the flashcard and it states this for step 10. "Wait approx. 5 minutes. Then push throttle forward to 110%" So I'm a bit confused by your comment - if the throttle only goes fro 0-100, how after 5 minutes can you advance it to 110% ? Or did you perhaps mean to state "The early Beaufighter" in you comment? I don't own the Tobruk DLC yet (seriously considering it), does it have a campaign for the Beaufighter?
Art-J Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 ^ It does, although the campaign is for Channnel map - apparently you fly with Beau night fighter squadron to intercept night bomber raids. Haven't played it yet, however.

Do you fly those campaign missions in the later Beaufighter Mk IF with BCO, or is it the earlier variant like in standalone Blitz?

Or did you perhaps mean to state "The early Beaufighter" in you comment? For the game - in 100 octanes planes; your joystick throttle in 100% equals to 100% when BCO limiter is OFF and 110% when BCO limiter is ON. For enable extra boost - in 100 octanes engines, two conditions need be fulfilled: 1 - BCO limiter - the red tab in Spitfire throttle quadrant, turn the "tilt" in Spitfire...", is out (ON message in HUD). But press the key/button (or mouse click) for this remove the physical BCO limiter (ON on HUD) don''t engage extra boost (like in IL-2:46, IL-2:GB) just remove a limitation for the extra boost to be used. 2 - What enable the extra boost is move throttle above 100%, up to 110%, so if your joystick throttle is already in 100% need do a back and forth movement, for bypass the 100% that enable the extra boost. Reason this adjust: If player have a throttle with afterburner detent (Warthog throttle, VPC T50CM2 with 3rd party add-on) can set that the detent (a physical limitation) correspond to game throttle in 100% be adjust the slider "100% position" for throttle axis in Controls > Axes. So 0% up to detent of your throttle became 0 -100% in game, bypassing the detent you enter in 100 - 110%, and if BCO limiter is out (ON) extra boot is engaged without the back and forth movement. Even with a throttle without detent you can make use of this feature, by setting, for example that 90% of you throttle equals to 100% in game adjusting the "100% position" slider, so 100% became 110% for game, of couse if BCO limiter is out (ON on HUD). You may ask, "We in 87% octanas" planes is allowed operate the BCO limiter if extra boost is not available?" Happens that Spitfire (specially) , Hurricane, Blenheim, Beaufighter... cockpits in the game is a kind of "generic"* cockpit for all versions this planes in game, as well the controls is common for all, without replicate specific's of their RL counterparts for a given Mk. * In recent patches some details in Spitfire MK.I cockpit was changed for reflect better their (RL) cockpit, e.g. the Propeller Pitch adjust in now Bowden cable and not the lever previously used, what is correct for Spitfire Mk.II. Well, the campaign intro note says about intercept missions being flown with 219 Sqn, followed by "strike back" missions with 248 Sqn (some cross-channel intruder missions maybe? I know nothing about history of either of these units). For what it's worth, I only checked what Beau version is being loaded as player's plane for the first mission and it's I-NF.
