Can not play single player career mode

Greetings all

    I am having problems playing career mode in IL2. When I try to open career mode, the screen kinda greys out, and the lil thinking wheel goes round and round, but nothing happens, just freeze's on that screen.

   I have never deleted a pilot from career mode, I must have 40 or 50 pilots in career mode. The first time I noticed this problem was when I tried to start a new career. I was thinking maybe I have too many pilots, I dunno.

   I can still play missions, quick missions, scripted campaigns and multiplayer, but career is boned. Thoughts?

Thank you for responce to my post Rapidus. I'm not sure what you mean by restore order in the career. Here is a screenshot of the situation.
