BornToBattle Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 This tech issue has been long standing I couldn’t find anything on it from a search though. Just as the heading says, when on the ground grass blades come straight through aircraft surfaces, Really noticeable of course when you ditch an aircraft gear up. Is there a tech reason why this can’t be fixed? Just wondering science it’s been this way forever. Thanks!

There is no collision modeling on the grass, so the aircraft surfaces don't affect them in any way, and the grass doesn't impact the plane. The game is unable to determine if the aircraft is touching the grass or not so the grass remains in position when the plane is on top of it, and clips through the graphics of the wing. Collision modeling on the grass may or may not be possible, it might come with some weirdness (like grass shearing off a wing) or cause performance issues.

Okay, I figured there was a good reason why after all this time. Thanks Red, as always!
