FeuerFliegen Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 Hello all, I've heard a few times about certain paths taken in career mode that are particularly fun or unique, so I was wondering what all are some of your favorite paths to take in career mode? Would love to hear about which planes/squadrons are unique from the rest, such as night flying (or early morning/late evening where half the mission is in the dark), ship attacks, surprise/scramble airfield raids, etc. I read yesterday someone highly recommended the Battle of Stalingrad career with the Fw190 A-3, so I'm thinking of trying that one next. 2
40plus Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 I-16 over Moscow has been my most enjoyable so far. Such a janky little bird. So much fun. 5
US63_SpadLivesMatter Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 P40 during the Battle of Moscow is a lot of fun.
PatrickAWlson Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 Flying German: Start in the Me110. Transition to the Me109. From there to the Fw190. Finally head west, first in the 190 and then hopefully finishing in the 262. 1
Eisenfaustus Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 II/JG52 offers a career strentching from the very start of moscow to the very end of kuban without changing squadrons ^^ 1

UFA_Bagel Posted August 1, 2020 Posted August 1, 2020 (edited) - In I./JG52 career, you can follow their long historic path from the BoM to the BoBP where 2./JG52 joined JG11 as 12./JG11 and converted from Bf-109 to Fw-190. Also I./JG52 participated in the major offensive part of the BoS not like II./JG52 or III./JG52 played minor roles in the BoS. - A similar example is III./JG52 you can find in the BoS and the BoK as well as their 7./JG52 as 12./JG3 in the BoBP both flying Bf-109 as I remember. - In the BoS, there's the very special Bf-109G-2 staffel of volunteer pilots "Platzschutzstaffel" originated from JG3 to protect the Pitomnik airfield and support the airlift for the Paulus' 6th Army in the encirclement until the very last fight. You really get many ground attack planes intercept misions over your field and some Ju-52 escort missions where you meet them far from the airfield and must guarantee their safe landing at Pitomnik. Personally, I have never met cargo planes escort missions in any another career so far. - JG3 allows you to fully explore the BoS and all its chapters and you can continue your career with JG3 in the BoK and the BoBP. - Ju-52 career maybe something refreshing with cargo and paratroopers missions. - Po-2/U-2 is a night bomber career in the BoS and the BoK. - Short Me-262 career in the very famous Nowotny's group "Kommando Nowotny" in the BoBP. - P-39 career in the famous Pokryshkin's 16th GvIAP in the BoK. 1CGS LukeFF Posted August 2, 2020 1CGS Posted August 2, 2020 (edited) I./KG 51 is a good choice for a really long bomber / fighter/bomber career right now, and it will be even more so once Normandy is complete. Right now, you can start out with this unit on the Ju 88 on the Stalingrad map and fly it for a while on the Kuban map, before transitioning to the Me 262 on the Rhineland map. Once Normandy comes, you should be also able fly the Me 410 with this same unit. Edited August 2, 2020 by LukeFF 1 1 2

But as soon as I am in the seat this career will move on. It is very good
YouBet Posted August 3, 2020 Posted August 3, 2020 (edited) Flying the FW 190 in the Battle of Stalingrad is a blast. Those cannons on that beast truly wreak havoc. Flying out of Pitomnik shortens the transit times, too. It may not reflect what historically happened, but you can transfer from the 190s to Platzschutzstaffel Pitomnik once you get to "Operation Uranus" -- keeps you at Pitomnik for hair-raising duels to the end of the campaign (but then flying the Bf 109-Gs). Leon_Portier Posted August 3, 2020 Posted August 3, 2020 (edited) LA 5 FN campaign, amazing bird and you have to watch out to get back home in one piece. Otherwise you have sit in the LaGG - 3 until the next batch of LAs is delivered. Also make sure you start as squad lead so you can choose witch plane you get.
