The Sun glare effect in Blitz seems excessive given display limitations of flat screen. Sun glare effect outside the canopy makes instruments unreadable. I don't believe that this is done purposefully, but is just collateral damage because the game engine cannot partition the monitor display to emulate head tuck in order to briefly check gauges. The cockpit illumination provided (in the Spitfire at least) is pathetic and of no help in this regard. This simply adds to the frustration of having to anticipate how TIR will react when a split-second head turn is required. Like it or not GB in VR shows how Sun glare issues can be managed to provide a more functional  cockpit environment.
