first time user - trainer plane will not fly straight without constant readjustments

Hello, first time user with Xbox One Controller and using JoytoKey.

Pitch Roll and Yaw work fine but the trainer plane wants to keep flying upwards and to the left without any controller inputs from me. Shouldn't it fly level and in a straight line? Do i need to calibrate somehow?  I don't have this problem with another VTOL flight simulator i have.

Also as this is my first post.. is everythig pre-moderated before I can post? If there are rules that we have to abide by when posting then why the 'soviet style' control.  Help and advice would be much appreciated thanks.

Single engine aircraft never fly straight and level - especially if there's no aileron trim. The torque of the turning machine and propeller tries to turn the plane into the other direction, the propwash hitting the horizontal stabilizer pushes it to the side (so far for straight) and depending on the speed the plane either wants to go up or down (you can land a plane with broken elevators just with speeding up and slowing down). For a given speed you can trim (if trim for elevator, rudder and aileron are available) to something approaching straight and level, but not for long.

Paul, Artist is right.  If you haven't flown, your best bet is just to start a few experimental missions in flight and learn your way around.  Not the Tiger Moth, it's fiddly.  I'd say maybe the Hurricane to get something that is not over responsive.  You don't have aileron trim, but make sure you've allocated your elevator and rudder trims and understand how to use them.  As an exercise, holding the wings level with aileron and setting the other trims so that you can fly without significant elevator or rudder control input is a good idea.  You will find that trim varies with speed and power, so after a while you can check this out.  When you get to try landing, one method that works is to get your gear down early, probably forget flap initially, decide on your approach speed (refer to all the manuals around, but say 100 for the Hurri) and aim the aircraft just beyond the threshold marker.  Keep your aim and hold the speed correct by increasing or decreasing power.  As the ground nears (when you can see individual blades of grass, on a real a/c) ease the stick back and power off so that you touch down stalled with the tail wheel pretty much on the ground.  One aid to judgement is to fly the a/c (gear down) as low and slow down the length of the airfield as you can, without touching down - it doesn't matter if you touch, because it will just bounce.

Hope that's some help.  My Avatar is the Turbulent I owned for 36 years.  Would you believe the stick loading was less than the sim joystick I use now?

But the virtue of a sim is that you can climb out of any crash, swear, and have another go.  Good luck, and just work up your expertise a step at a time.  Use some of the excellent YouTube videos to help.
