Non Prokhorovka maps not suitable for tanks

Several times happened to me that I was crossing a border between forest and meadow (last time at Stalingrad winter map at east side of Erik village) and my tank was damaged (engine, steering and gearbox). Area there is flat, there is no uneven terrain.

Can I expect, that non Prokhorovka maps will be adjusted to not cause those issues?

Probably not. ?

I would have thought they would want to adjust the existing maps to ensure all arms can play together on all maps, even if they so not update the ground detail.

There you go thinking again. ?

Then again... they may 'want' to but don't have the personnel to do so right now and it would be a daunting and time consuming effort.

Remember IL-2 is and always has primarily been a Flight Simulator first and foremost. It probably always will be.

I bought FC1 and TC more or less out of curiosity and support for the whole IL2 affair, and especially the work the devs do for improving all matters.

FC1 is good fun if you like dogfights (and skinning) especially, but still feels a little like unfinished business, especially for map and trains, and missing infantry.

Rise of Flight has more to offer if you like WW1 stuff.

TC i tried only a few times, but what i miss is 'driving' around in non shooter vehicles on that beautifully made map in an ambulance, a Willys or a truck.

I am hopeful that we will see all of the maps cleaned up a bit. If you know the exact spot and can reproduce what you saw, maybe you could report it as a bug.

I couldn't agree more. This would not only benefit Tank Crew, but would boost the sales of all modules.

It's reported

On this topic actually. I think it would be good to be able to buy all the maps without having to buy all the aircraft with them IF they are otherwise restricted. Otherwise I feel like I am playing DCS. Do tankers have access to all the maps in multiplayer? What restrictions to maps are their for tankers and mission makers?

I'm not 100% sure, but my understanding is that everyone already has all the content in the game installed, and you unlock it as you purchase each module. But you can join and play on any map being hosted in multi-player.

Makes sense. But for burgeoning mission makers like us, it means we have to buy whole packs to be able to make missions on different maps. This may explain why some of the mission I wanted to take a look at in the mission maker I cannot edit to see what's happening in.

I'd be surprised if that was the case because you do not have to sign in to use the mission editor (FMB). But you will only be able to play multiplayer maps you don't own of course.

It's actually exactly that way it works - you get all with the first installation of the game, but you only have access to items you purchased and therefore are unlocked.

Concerning the maps, you only have fully access for all maps (even those you don't own) in Multiplayer mode - and that is a good thing because how would this be

manageable on MP servers? Impossible, if you ask me.

One of the persistent issues on these maps are the somewhat random invisible trees, the complaints go back to the beginning of time.  I've sometimes spent more time stopped, repairing my tank than actually driving to my target.  Rarer are the occasional holes in the map.  I've only ever found these on or near beaches and it's quite a surprise.  One moment you're trundling along listening to the seagulls and smelling the ... beach smells when  ---- WHOOOOPS ---- you teeter into an invisible sink hole, your tank disappears through the map and then you hear an explosion and read an announcement that you died.

I just bought BOS, and really like the map so far. But like you, I did encounter a few problems like invisible walls and icy roads in the middle of summer. I actually think that the ground resistance value in the Tank Crew physics model itself must be out, because I have seen tanks slide unrealistically on sloped ground in the Tank Crew map as well. But having been given the impression that the non-Tank Crew maps don't look good up close in a tank, I was pleasantly surprised to find that this is not the case.

In all fairness, the DEV's should clean up the invisible obstacles, and make sure that visual representations of physical objects align with the actual X, Y coordinates on all maps, but other then that and maybe adding a few roads through major urban centers, the BOS map provides some beautiful scenery for a number of interesting battle scenarios in Tank Crew.

The linked video demonstrates a few of the problems found, as well as how beautifully realistic the BOS map is.
