smkin350 Posted July 27, 2020 Posted July 27, 2020 I'm been trying to get a more consistent 80 fps on my rift S. I'm using a i5-9600k overclocked to 4.9 GHz and a GTX 1070. Giving the limitations of my setup I have basically turned everything I can think of off. Using Oculus tray tool I can see I can stay under 10ms most of the time but I keep getting spikes that cause jutters. Watching the graphs it appears it's more of a cpu/app rendering issue vs a gpu issue. I have been playing the p-39L mission that's in the BOK mission group as my baseline and noticed it seems to always happen when I fly over the river next to the airfield. Does anyone have any ideas of anymore settings or configuration files changes I could try to figure out what's causing it or is my CPU just not capable enough ?
blue_max Posted July 27, 2020 Posted July 27, 2020 For me it really helped to turn off the hud. That causes frametime spikes for me. You can still turn on icon labels after turning off the hud.
smkin350 Posted July 27, 2020 Author Posted July 27, 2020 I have noticed if does perform better without the HUD. One thing I do not like about turning the HUD off is I can read the radio calls when I flying non english countries. Do you know if there is a way to configure the HUD so I can read the messages or make the radio calls using the english voices even if it's not realistic ?
firdimigdi Posted July 27, 2020 Posted July 27, 2020 This is pretty good for that - a bit monotonous, but at least you kind of get the gist of what's happening.
Dutch2 Posted July 27, 2020 Posted July 27, 2020 I can confirm its still working for Russian and German voices.
Bernard_IV Posted July 29, 2020 Posted July 29, 2020 What is your ram frequency and latency. I went from a kit running at 2800 CL15 to a 3200 CL14 kit and it made a good bit of difference. Another member had issues as well and it turned out to be mediocre ram.
