TShark Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 Hello, I am new to Il-2 and I am having trouble mapping the diagonal snap views to a 4-way hat on my throttle. I am using Centered Quick View and want Il-2 to recognize two simultaneous hat buttons for the diagonal views. For instance to get the "Pilot Head Snap Position - Forward right" I need Il-2 to recognize joy0_b4 (forward view) and joy0_b6(right view). Is Il-2 capable of this or do I need 3rd party software to create another button for this combination? I currently am using a Virpil throttle and software. Thank you for your help! TShark
Sokol1 Posted July 27, 2020 Posted July 27, 2020 Without know what throttle* you are using, an guess. Are HAT and POV HAT, visually similar, but for joystick electronic circuit they are different. If that HAT in your throttle is not a POV HAT, in what when two near buttons is pressed, e.g. N + E an virtual diagonal NE button is created, this is the problem. With a non POV HAT the diagonal button don't exist physically, and the game don't allow you set two buttons for same command in Controls GUI, is recognized b4 or b6, not b4+b6. * VirPil throttle and joystick, some VKB joysticks allow you set extra HAT's as 4 way or 8 way, because use Alphs switch with physical buttons in diagonals. With 3rd part software like JoyTokey, Joystick Gremlin may you overcame this limitation, but is a "gadget" more to run with the game.

It is a non POV HAT that I am trying to use on my Virpil Mongoose T-50 throttle. You confirmed what I thought. I will have to dive into the Virpil configuration software to see if I can find a solution. Thanks again for the help!
TShark Posted August 5, 2020 Author Posted August 5, 2020 I finally figured out the POV issue. Using the VPC Configuration Tool with the VPC Throttle selected I selected 4B8W in the first window of the "POVs 1-4 Mode". I then assigned the "physical" hat buttons to the "logic.btn" POV U/R/D/L in the right window of the Configuration Tool. Then you just "Save VPC Device" and my throttle hat switch is now an 8-way POV. What's confusing is that when you first select "4B8W" the Configuration Tool does not automatically map the correct "physical" hat buttons to the "logic.btn" POV directions. You have to manually assign them. Now Il-2 Sturmovik see's the throttle hat switch as an 8-way POV and my snap view controls in Flying Circus are the same ones I use in Aces High III. 1
