suggestion: select a plane tab, for a new Campaign

Yesterday I wanting to start an H111-16 campaign at the earliest date, but apparently you can not select the plane first. So I did have select every data to get an squadron that did fly the He111-16 at the earliest starting data. I do not know how members are using this selecting, but I usely select an squadron based on a plane type.

Maybe an idea to introduce the selection on plane type tab?

edit:  (And for flyers who do not care on what plane, an random generator for automatic selection).  ?

Finding an He111 or pretty much any plane squadron should not take more than 2 minutes.  The squadron is the last item selected in the campaign generation process.  Each step reduces the number of selectable squadrons, so by the time you are choosing a squadron there are almost always fewer than 10.  Cycling through these takes seconds and as you select each squadron information about it, including what kind of planes they fly, is displayed at the bottom.

For the He111 H6.  You know that this is the earlier version so ou are going to want relatively early war.  Choose Moscow or Stalingrad and then choose a date.  There are only six bombing squadrons in the LW.  Half fly He111s and half fly Ju88s.  Cycling through the  squadrons can be done in seconds.  Find one that flies the He111 and off you go.

Choosing by plane is no longer possible since the inception of equipment management several versions ago.  Squadrons equip with arch types and not specific types.  I don't really know if a squadron is going to fly the H6 or H16 - depends on date and luck of the draw (mostly date).  I could tell you if a squadron flies He111s but not He111 H6.

Thanks for explanation that it is not possible, its btw only an minor remark.

To be clear, the problem is I do care on what map,  only want to fly an specific plane on the earliest date. Now you have to guess and scroll down true all the dates and back again. Still think its a lot easier to select the plane firstly, instead of selecting Bomber/fighter/reconnaissance, as I said mostly people are selecting on plane type.

Guess I have to use the included .txt file with all of the programmed planes by date and squadrons.

What you can do is go to the aircraft file under 'Battle of Stalingrad/PWCGBoS/BoSData/Input/Aircraft', open it with 'Wordpad' and look for the date of introduction for your aircraft type.

This date will be the first possible, when your aircraft type will start taking part in your campaign.

Or a diabolic thought, you might want to change the date of introduction for your wanted aircraft type:crazy:

Be careful with edits because they are 1. unsupported (i.e. don't edit PWCG data files and then report a bug :) ) and 2. they get overwritten on each install.

As stated above PWCG no longer operates on the basis of "this specific model (He111 H6) was provided to this squadron on this date".  It is more "this aircraft type (He111) was in service with this unit on this date.  A specific model may or may not be there.  Introductions of models is historically correct (reasonably so, anyway) so if you see an He111 unit in 1941 it is going to be flying the He111 H6.

As an RoF veteran I know how its working , I’m only reading the list to know on what derection I have to fill inn.

In RoF I always put in the famous pilots that Pat did not use, like in the Belgium escadrille or to the real historic members included the right skin.
