Noisemaker Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 I've searched the forums, I've tried LCtrl-C, LShift-C, RShift-1, 2, 3 and 0, and nothing takes me to the commander's position (at least in the T34, haven't tried anything else yet). What am I missing?
Goosevich Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 in T-34-76 Obr 1943 commander and gunner are the same person xD
SCG_judgedeath3 Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 Not until t-34 85 did it get a dedicated gunner 1
69th_chuter Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 In reality it was a marked disadvantage but in the game it's a big advantage. 1

For example in Pz-IV you can press Ctrl+C 3 times, and you jump on gunner seat almost instantly. In T-34 you have to 1) close hatch (2-3sec) 2) press Shift + T to look through the scope. All this takes critical 3-4 seconds. And if you want to look around and open hatch - this action again takes your 3 sec. Back to visor - again 3-4 sec. And so on.. I'd say it is very very inconveniently. That's why I don't play T-34 if I can play KV. In KV commander is separate person and you don't need to open and close hatch every time at least. 69th_chuter Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 Well, let's say you're in a T34. You're open hatch cruising along, you see something, stop and point the tank generally in the direction of potential target while hitting ctrl 5 (binocs). You scout the immediate area and spot something just a few degrees off the nose of the tank and center the binocs on it. You close the hatch and, if you had opened the hatch while using the gunsight, you will pop right back into the gunsight AND the turret will line up exactly with the binocs last view (as long as its within like ~15°). If you're good you can even spot the binocs above the target an appropriate amount to account for range, this works rather well when firing from defilade. In the P4 (my favorite tank in game) every time you pop into gunner's seat you have to re-aim the gun.

69th_chuter Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 OK - you win. For the way I play (on the Finnish server), I guess, when looking for targets in trees and in defilade I, speaking only for myself, find it a big advantage to using the binocs to aim the main gun. Apparently I'm only handicapping myself doing this. I apologize for suggesting anyone else could find any advantage in using this technique. In the Panzer 4 I guess I just take a lot longer than everyone else to switch from the commander using the binocs to ID the target, then to the gunner and swiftly orienting the view and finding the target and getting the shot off. Heck, it just throws me off that every time I jump in the gunner's seat the turret tries to recenter. 1
