Lombra Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 Hi, I'm looking to take some VR passengers out for a ride some day. Which planes have seats that other players can occupy? (preferably forward facing) Module doesn't matter.
Avimimus Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 (edited) Apparently Il-2 Desert Wings (coming out soon) will have a Bf-108 with a forward looking sight-seeing capability (and there are some rumours that it might even have a mechanism for co-piloting). They also have a Tiger Moth. I've never tried it in Il-2 Great Battles though. Most seats are gunner seats. I don't recall being able to sit in the rear-cockpit of the U-2VS biplane unless the cockpit is replaced by a gunner position? I remember being able to do so in Il-2 1946... but that older sim might not be as good for sight-seeing purposes (In spite of Norway, the Pacific, Murmansk, The North Pole, Italy and a wide variety of locations - including a high detail Slovakia). JimTM Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 (edited) U-2VS, Ju-87, Il-2, and anything with two or three engines. The He-111 has a nice view out the front. The U-2VS has an open rear gunner seat (facing backward). Edited July 21, 2020 by JimTM
DD_Arthur Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 HE111 and JU88 if you want forward facing but if your passengers are in VR then try the Bf110 without pilot armour or the PE2’s and get your friends to face forward. Note ‘Desert Wings’ is not released yet and does not have VR.

You'd have to instruct them on how to move their head position (e.g. end delete home page-up page-down keys) as well as rotate their heads with most of those. I guess the He-111 is the best bet? What you say is true... but Desert Wings is expected out this summer and... well... look at the 4 minute mark:

Avimimus Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 I so completely missed that. I've stopped actually seeing the words 'VR' in posts. 1
PatrickAWlson Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 I thought people were joking about Desert Wings ... bu CloD

The dorsal guner is just behind and to the right of the Pilot, has almost the same view, I'm prety sure you can see the actual working gauges from there. The only problem is that it's looking backwards, but I guess your passenger can turn 180 degrees without much trouble... This would be a (not so good) example. The bf 110 and he 111 are also really good options
Yogiflight Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 The, by far, best option is the forward gunner in the He 111. You won't find a better forward view, than out of its glass house. Only disadvantage is, it is not too fast, so you'll need more time to get somewhere else.
Lombra Posted July 22, 2020 Author Posted July 22, 2020 Thanks for the suggestions! I'll be sure to try these out. I guess I can try just turning around in the backwards facing positions.
