Is Normandy out in Early Access yet?

I'm not clear from the sales page. I would buy it if it's released even as an early access beta but not into pre-buys...  Don't really see any discussion of it here either.

Take a look at Update 4.008. BoN is Pre-buy, but the  P-47D-22 "Razorback" is the first content to be released.

It's not yet. The standard established with this series if you're unfamiliar is that they announce a new title and slowly release finished content for it. At any point along the length of that development you'll be able to buy in as early access. Content is finished one by one and added to the sim. The P-47D-22 came out just a couple of weeks ago marking the start of early access content. By late 2021 or early 2022 I anticipate that they will be done and the pre-order/early access discount will disappear and the sim will officially be out.

It comes out in pieces  Planes come out as they are ready.  The map usually comes pretty late in the development cycle, so don't expect anything in 2020 (not that I would complain if it got here)

When the first plane comes out for the a respective title it moves from Pre-Order to Early Access.

Icer, this development team has not disappointed, its great to see the planes added and the development progressing. I say, if you're into flight sims you'll not be disappointed if you get in for early access.

Plus the P-47D-22 is available to fly already in the Bodenplatte careers.

The P-47D-22 is worth the price of admission, IMO . If you love the P-47 there's no reason not to buy in now. The improvement of the existing D-28's flight model alongside the D-22's development also speaks to the improvements the devs do even to existing content, and is much appreciated.

One caveat - I would not buy an early access as the first and only module.  If you do that you will have a P47 and not much to do with it.  If you already have modules in place, especially BoBP,  then BoN early access works well, as the planes are largely usable on the BoBP map.

You're in luck... it's available as early access.  I bought it; highly recommended even though only one plane is available... it'll soon become irresistible once a few more planes are released.

He posted that he is not interested in pre-buys.  With only one plane and no map my guess is that this is not quite fleshed out enough to interest him, but that's his call.  My $02 is that if you have BoBP buy it, because almost all (come to think of it - all) of the planes are usable in the BoBP time frame.

I don't mind buying early access modules that are playable yet not complete, what I won't do is buy a module that I can't use (not released at all). I am a DCS customer, 75% of their content is Early Access! ;)

PS - I also own BOS and FC Vol. 1 but bought them on Steam before I knew better so the badges don't show up here.. so i'm doing what I can to show my support!

@Icer In that case you would have to look at the module and see if it meets your requirements.  If you own BoBP then every plane will be usable as it is released.  If you are mostly an MP guy every plane will be usable as it is released. If you own Stalingrad and are mostly an SP guy then you have to ask "what am I going to do with a P-47?".

Anyhow, hope you have got the information that you need to make the best decision for yourself.

It sounds like you would be fine with purchasing BoN then, based on what you have said.  I purchased it for the same reason; to have access to the new planes right as they come out.  Right now we just have the P-47 D-22, and I'm sure it won't be much longer before we get another new plane.

So I purchased today and it shows up on my module when I start the game...but zero content?

No Maps/Aircrafts/Missions etc...

Do I just have to wait now?

As stated in the product description, Normandy is in Early Access, meaning that you can use features as soon as they are ready. Currently, only the P-47 D-22 is available.

The "Announcements" area is a good place to find out about the development of the Normandy module and future game updates.

You should have the P-47D-22, which is flyable in QMB, online, and in Career mode (at certain times or squadrons, I believe), as well as in any custom missions built with it. Does it show up as a choice in the QMB, for example?

Indeed. You have BoBP - so you will be able to fly it on that map (in QMB, Career mode, or scripted campaigns/missions). But as a pre-order you'll have to wait a few months for some of the other content. I'm sure it'll be worth the wait though.

As the others have mentioned, the first aircraft for Battle of Normandy is the P-47D-22. It's out now and you can fly it.

Other aircraft will trickle out this year. The C-47 (AI), Fw190A-6 and maybe the Spitfire XIV or P-51B before Christmas (maybe) and then momentum will pick-up through 2021.

i'll wait a little, and wonder what happens to tanks development for Normandy.

You can't get around a Churchill and a flyable c47 to add more historic stuff:

yea, i know, it's a flight sim, but i just made a mission up for the new Vluki Summer map. Looks good, even destroyed an Armored Train with a K1Vs:

Tip, decrease damage, and use some HE shells too:
