II./JG27_Rich Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 It just makes sence that he would run out of fuel if he flew inverted too long with the pick up being at the bottom of the tank. I wonder why that didn't dawn on them. It sure happened at the right place though didn't it. Just like a field in Russia flat flat flat.
DKsvejseko Posted May 12, 2014 Author Posted May 12, 2014 The fueltank is not like the original configuration, the pilot just forgot that.
DD_bongodriver Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 That's the bit that surprises me, I wonder if the tank is a completely fictional home design or might it be based on something original?
DKsvejseko Posted May 12, 2014 Author Posted May 12, 2014 It is based on the original, but not made with alll the supply lines required for inverted flight.
DD_bongodriver Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Doesn't take much, an inverted system is so simple.
Sternjaeger Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 (edited) I'd frankly refrain from any prolonged inverted flight, but yes, it'd be wise to have an adequate fuel system anyway. Red 7 have been plagued by inadequate pilots and a somewhat careless management: there was an aerobatic routine done during La Ferte Alais of some years ago where the pilot stalled it whilst being inverted on top of what was supposed to be a cuban eight and recovered it only below the tree line in front of the public.. that stunt costed them their invitation to Legends..
