Hello everyone,

Wishing you all, the best over these troubling times we live in at the moment.

So, I used to have this video uploaded on youtube, but had to unchain accounts for security reasons many years ago and didn't re-upload it.. I thought it may be of interest to some people here especially as the community is building up quite a bit.

Its a voice recording from an Royal Aeronautical Society conference back in 2012 on Warbird flying, hosted at the Royal Navy Yeovilton site here in the UK (with some images added that were used in the original presentation) from warbird pilot Dave Southwood (ex-RAF).

He provides some interesting insights into some of the big names in the WW2 warbird scene and how they contrast including some other more obscure types.

An experienced pilot and ex-Squadron leader in the RAF, he was also one of the very few entrusted with flying the original Daimler Benz powered Bf 109 G-2 "Black Six"... so he was one of the first to fully compare this aircraft after its unique restoration and got some hours on it before it was put away for static show at Hendon museum.

It's a long recording, over 1 hour 20 mins... so for reference:

05:40      P-51 C and D

13:30      Spitfire Mark V and IX

22:40      Hurricane

32:10      Hispano Buchon and Bf 109 G

43:30      Meteor

53:30      Questions - including his opinion on the "best overall performers"

Anyway, enjoy.
