Hey Fellas,

I know many of us here use the reverb, here are 2 tricks I used to make mine much less hot in the summer.  VR cover makes a cover that fits perfectly but is not advertised...

Thanks for the tip.  You may want to tape the hell out of your cord.  Any stress on the cable breaks the plug.

Good tip on the cover, I got the same cover as well, what he says is totally right. Btw, check sunlight, keep headset safe.

You say there is a VRcover that works with the Reverb - but you don't say how to order it.

there is a link in the description to the product...

more importantly i FRIED my headset with the minimal sun exposure to record this video and take a picture...DO NOT EXPOSE YOUR HEADSET TO SUN EVER.  tough way to learn...there is nothing anywhere about sun exposure in the user manual, warranty, ect.  I literally read the fine print...probably 3 minutes of sun exposure RUINED this head set...time to test out HP customer service

Oh that sucks! I was thinking to myself “he’s got it in bright light, must be studio”. There was a PSA on the Oculus reddit a long while back about the lenses massively concentrating the sun. I cringe when I see I’ve left my headset with the lenses pointing anywhere but down to the floor.

I feared that, hence my comment to warn you in the video's comments and here. Best act stupid and try to get it replaced I guess. They won't check anyway, they don't repair but trash and replace. Good luck!

My headsets are always in the same type of Rucksack. I use this one. It's modular inside so you can fit it to your liking, is padded, and its inner surface catches any kind of hair or dust which means it cleans the outer part of your headset each time you stove it in there.

That's for the G1 Reverb right?

I didn't even know about the sun thing, was it the plastic frame that broke, or the sun caused damage to the eyepieces?

VR headset lenses are essentially magnifying glasses. If you let the sun hit them, it will be focused by the lenses onto the LCD screen of the headset. Really really bad stuff then happens. This is why I always store my headset horizontal or 'pointing up' with a dust cloth over it. Hanging your headset pointing downwards (say, from a hook or something) allows dust to gather on the lenses and makes them a target for sun rays.

The cover is for the Reverb, yes.

The sun damage is possible to all headsets equally. I always keep them stored in a camera rucksack or stashed away.
